Baby Showers

diaper cakes

Hi!  I am throwing a shower for a friend and this is my first time doing so.  Are diaper cakes cliche?  Or do people still like them?  I have never been to a shower with one but most of my friends cloth diaper so I think that is why.  I know for a fact the friend I am throwing the shower for will use sposies.  Thoughts?

Re: diaper cakes

  • I think they're very cliche. Maybe you can make some sort of other arrangement out of the diaper. I've seen motorcycles for a boy, roses for a girl. Something, ANYTHING besides a plain old diaper cake, IMO

  • I think they are adorable.

Ubiquitous, maybe so-- but adorable nonetheless.

  • I don't like diaper cakes.  They can look really cute, but then you have to pull it all apart when you have to use the diapers.  They're just not my thing.

  • They're def. not my thing.  I'm really not interested in going home and taking it apart.
  • Thanks for the ideas!  I found some cool tutorials on YouTube, I think I am going to try and make a tractor diaper cake.

  • Personally, I really like using them as shower decorations because they can be a pretty impressive centerpiece if you make them well, and it's all stuff the mom to be can use.  It's very easy to coordinate with your theme by using different toppers,

  • I loved that they were useful decorations at my shower. My sister also made a diaper wreath on the door. There are two common types of diapercake a I reviewed both. One type has you roll up each individual diaper and then put te cake together and the othe

  • I think it's a really cute decoration!
  • I love diaper cakes, but I know not all of my friends do, so it depends who's shower it is. I don't roll each diaper individually. I would hate to take that apart so I don't make them that way. I try to make mine easy to take apart so they are a useful gi

  • They are cute but are they hard to pull apart?
I went to a shower last weekend that had a diaper wreath. Oh it was cuuuute! They tied in pacis and blankets and stuff into it.
  • They make a cute decoration for the cake table or the gift table.

The ones I make come apart very easily because I don't use glue, tape or rubberbands.  I just line the diapers up and put a ribbon around the whole "layer" and then put the

  • no, they still are in fashion and very useful!
  • I loved the one I got! It was super cute!!
  • i think they're nice as decorations on the table where the food or gifts will be.
