"My Baby's Beat" iphone app--does it really work?

Hi there! I saw on another post here that someone recommended the "My Baby's Beat" iphone app to be used as a doppler during pregnancy. I've had apps like this before for adult heartbeats, and they didn't work very well. Have any of you used this app? Does it really work for you? I'm totally undecided, and even though it's only upwards of $3 or something, I don't want to spend the money if it's not something that works.

Anyone with experience in this here?

Oh and also, I'm 14 weeks now...will that be too early to hear it with the app if it DOES work?

  • I can't imagine it would work at all, let alone well.  Maybe close to 3rd tri when the HB is audible with a stethoscope, but by that point, you have a good idea what's going on by movement and the app wouldn't be useful.

  • I downloaded a stethascope app and I heard it for the first time today! I've heard of other women hearing it at around 18 weeks with an app. It's pretty strong, plus I use like music studio headphones to listen. I tried with regular ipod headphones and it

  • I have anterior placenta and tilted uterus. I talked to the ultrasound tech who said most apps like this are garbage. You'd have to be on the thin side with no uterus tilt in order for it to be worth it most of the time. I would save your money.

  • Yes it works but takes a while to find the heart beat. You need total silence because it picks up every noise in the room.

  • I used it last pregnancy and found the hb not sure how far along I was though.  I am not skinny either.

  • I was super curious after I read this post because I had never heard of it...I bought it 30 min ago and it works!!! I have a couple recordings already! It's definitely her HB b/c it's 148 bpm and it gives you an example of a fetal heartbeat and an example
