Tub Drain Fear

Hi everyone!

I'm relatively new to this site but am looking for a bit of mommy to mommy interaction and get some insight into the mind of my toddler. I have two children the oldest is 3 years old, Cailyn, and a newborn, Layla.

My question to you all is this have any of you had your kiddo develop the sudden fear that she will be sucked down the drain? And hoards her bath toys to one side of the tub to keep them from getting near the drain as well?

I don't know where it came from but she screams whenever we start to drain the water while she's still in the tub and gets frantic and desperate to get out of it immediately.

    I was like this. I don't know how I got over it, but I did.  DS1 was nervous too. He got over it as well.  I think my DH explaining and showing him how plumbing works helped him

    I think that's a pretty common fear.  I remember Mr Rogers used to sing a song about how, "You'll Never Go Down the Drain".  Anyway as pp said stop draining the water while she is in the tub.  If she's still scared maybe putting a laundry b

    My daughter was extremely scared of "going down the drain" at that age, too. I stopped draining the tub while she was in it. I would drain the tub while holding her in my arms to show that her toys aren't going anywhere, so she won't either.

    We have not had this fear from our DD. But we drain the tub and say "Bye,bye water. See you tomorrow." every time.

    Seems silly, but do whatever works for you!

    My daughter screamed one time because of the drain. I had to cover it up with a face cloth. But there are drain covers that look like animals that you can put on top of the drain so its not as scary. Im not really sure where you can find them tho I hav
