First ultrasound and cervical incompetence

Today was my first real appointment (did paperwork last time) and saw the baby and doc saw it's tiny flicker of a heartbeat. It was a tiny roll around unit so it wasn't the official ultrasound but instead to make sure that the pregnancy was still there and viable. We scheduled the serious one for the 22nd and my husband can actually make it! Yay!

The doc and I also talked about how were going to have to keep an eye on my cervical length because of the amount of tissue I had removed in a LEEP procedure a couple of years ago. I certainly don't mind the extra ultrasounds, but the thought of losing the baby because of my cervix shortening and even the thought of the stitch being put in my cervix to keep it closed are less than fun. Anyone else with a potentially incompetent cervix?

  • I also had a LEEP done last year, a year after giving birth to my first child.

My OB told me this week that I will be visiting the perinatologist more often than the usual 12/20 wk scans b/c of my cervix.

She also said she was conservative
