Craigslist users/experts please come in (NBR)

Please help a Craigslist neophyte...  We are finally clearing out our second bedroom to make way for baby (yay!).  We need to sell all our bedroom furniture and bed in that room and are using Craigslist for the first time (as sellers at least).

Bedroom set is in great condition, Broyhill brand and includes: large double dresser, two nightstands, two end tables that match (can be used as nightstands or in a different room of the house), removable mirror for the dresser, queen size mattress/box spring/frame.  We priced the whole set for $900 thinking we want to list it high because people will lowball us.  We are definitely open to selling pieces separately (which I need to specify that in the ad and haven't done yet).

Do you think that price is unreasonable?  How long would you keep your original price before reducing it in order to get more interest?  Do you think I need to take down the listing and instead do separate posts for the pieces? (one for the dresser, one for the 2 nightstands, etc)

DH is getting antsy and it's only been listed for two days.  I think he's being a *tad* impatient...But would love to hear how some of you have managed your listings.

  • You could do it both ways -- keep the listing up for the whole set and then do separate listings for the individual pieces. (note on the separate listings that the whole set is available for $____)

  • It depends on your area. That would never sell here because it's a lower COL area. Take a look at other local listings for sets like yours and price competitively. We have this issue often because DH thinks he needs X amount for some things(like his old s

  • Before I list something I check CL, Ebay, and any other speciality places that may sell similar items. I also check what current retail value use if it is a newer item.
