Anyone thinking of using cator oil to help induce?

experience if you did use it?

when is optimal time to take it?

  • My prenatal yoga instructor / doula really discourages it. I wouldn't recommend it at least until you're right up against an induction.

    Personally, sh*tting like mad didn't sound like a fun way to try to start labour.

  • My midwife said absolutely no to castor oil. Chances of starting labor are slim to none, chances of blowing up your toilet, absolutely yes.

  • I've heard a lot of bad things about castor oil and would personally not try it.
  • A friend of mine has 10 kids, #11 n the way, and she said she only ever did castor oil twice when she was 42 weeks and desperate.

    I was overdue and considering it but did the chiropractor and acupuncturist first. I went into labor at 42 weeks

  • I did it at 41 weeks and 5 days...facing transfer of care from birth center to hospital. It worked for me. It was not pleasant, although I stayed hydrated easily and had no other issues. I wouldn't do it unless faced with that situation again.
