Husband on Propecia

Hi all! My H and I are planning and are curious if any other women's hubby's are on or were on propeciamedicine to help hair loss. I have read many places that a pregnant woman should NEVER touch the actual pill while pregnant, but what about while conceiving? Because obviously the medicine is in his system. I'm just wondering if anyone conceived while he was on the medication or if your husband stopped taking it. HELP!

    You should not be TTC while he is taking Propecia.

    His doctor says it's fine. I'm planning on talking to my ob/gyn about it, too.

    I'm glad you asked this! Mine is also taking it & has been for almost 10 years now. He's very  inconsistent about taking it & I know he's been slacking a lot since we started TTC because he is concerned about it lowering his count, etc. I'


       Me: IR-PCOS, elevated DHEAs, low progesterone, weak ovulation  DH: low volume, low T
    SHG 5/10/13: both tubes blocked; HSG 6/28 = Left tube cleared! Right blocked.
    BFP#1 7/20/13 EDD 3/30/14, m/c 8/19/13, D&E 8/21/13, Chromosomal results = normal, female
    Lap & hysteroscopy scheduled for 10/31, right tube cleared, no endo found! ...Happy Halloween!
    Cycle 14: Clomid (50)+ IUI = BFP! EDD 9/16/14~ Rowan Elizabeth born sleeping at 17w4d on 4/12/14 due to IC.
    ~There is no foot too small that it cannot leave an imprint on this world~
    New RE June 2014. RPL b/w - negative. SIS looking for uterine/cervical abnormalities & Asherman's 6/10/14 - ALL CLEAR!  
    Cycle 16: Natural IUI = CP, Cycle 17: Femara (2.5) + IUI = BFN, Cycle 18 Femara (5) + IUI = BFFN, Cycle 19: Break

    My husband took it for about 5 years.  The dermatologist who prescribed it said it was fine to take while TTC, his PCP said it was fine, and my OB said it was fine.  If you go online and read about it, it says that the sperm count can be lowered

    You should absolutely not get pregnant while he is on propecia. I'm a pharmacy student, and we just learned about this. You also are supposed to wait a couple of weeks after he stops taking it before TTC. It can also be harmful if you are already pregnant

    Propecia is a teratogen.  I'm shocked that his MD said it was fine.  I'd be switching MDs after that.  Did you use Google before posting?  It's not rocket science.  In fact, you needing to ask would imply that you knew (at least p

    wow! I don't think any of the articles I read mentioned the possibility of abnormal fetus development. I'm really glad you explained it this way. I had to look up teratogen, I was unfamiliar with the term, but after reading about them he's stopping the m

    There is a lot of contradictory information out there on this topic.  My DH stopped taking it while TTC but my OB and his doc told us it was fine to conceive while on it.  He got off of it a while ago just to be safe.  I did have one doc
