This past weekend we were out of town visiting my ILs. DD did pretty well, but there were a couple of things that needed addressing and I'm kind of at a loss as to how to address them while not at home. For example her cousins were running around in a restaurant and DD wanted to join them. That is an absolute no-no and she knows it. She typically does great when we go out to eat, but of course seeing that her cousins were allowed to run around made her want to do it. We do a lot with choices, so I told her her choice was to sit in her seat or I would leave with her and she could sit in the car. To my surprise she actually chose the car. I carried her out to the car and sat with her where she screamed/cried and demanded to go back in, she then started hitting me. She has hit us before which is an automatic time-out behind the gate (only time we use time-outs). But I was at a loss as to how to address the hitting. I just ignored her till she calmed down then told her we could return to the restaurant if she agreed to stay in her seat. She did and sat in her seat after that. There was one other time when I had to take her upstairs in my ILs house for a 'break' and she started hitting me again and even went as far as to say, "I'm hitting mama' I didn't want to put her in the crib because I know that's a big no-no. Thoughts, how do you handle this?

For me, if she's hitting me, I move to a place where she can't get me - usually that's just away from her (she's not a big hitter), but it might have to be another room. In the car, I would have moved to the front seat while she stayed in the bac
