Update on my H

Hi Ladies I just wanted to give a quick update on my husband. In case you missed the original thread, he was diagnosed with kidney cancer at the beginning of March. We were caught off guard by the news since the only symptoms he had was slight flank pain and was passing blood in his urine. A mass was found on his left kidney after running multiple CT scans, ultrasounds and MRIs. On March 18th he underwent a partial nephrectomy. Since the only true images we had of the tumor were from the outside at that point we were told the tumor was 5 cm (your kidney is about 10 cm) and the urologist was going to try to preserve as much of his kidney as possible (my husband is only 28), with the understanding that if necessary a total nephrectomy was plausible. The Dr. predicted he would take half or more of his left kidney. March 18th was one of the hardest days thus far in my life. Having to place total confidence in God?s hands to guide the doctor?s and nurse?s hands while they opened my husband up and made a judgment how much of a vital organ to preserve or take is the hardest thing I have had to do. The surgery went perfect. The tumor wasprimarily located in the protective capsule that surrounds the kidney and they were able to save 70% of his kidney. He was in ICU for 24 hours just to monitor everything post-op. He healed beautifully and walked out of the hospital 3 days later. He did struggle with pain management the first week post-op. The narcos made him extremely constipated (TMI sorry) which made him bloated and put internal pressure in the abdominal cavity, however without the narcos he was in extreme pain. He struggled to have a bowel movement or keep anything down on the pain pills. It was horrible having to watch someone I love with all of my heart suffer, and have no control over the situation. His scar is about the size of a man?s hand and it runs along the last rib on the left side. He will be out of work for the next 6 weeks. He cannot lift anything over 10 pounds, so Daddy cannot pick up D for another month and a half. We go on Friday for the follow up appointment where we will get the full pathology report for his tumor. He has come so far but I am so scared for Friday. We will know specifically the type of tumor he had and all of the risks of it coming back or spreading if just one single cell escaped the Dr.?s knife. I am hoping and praying for a report that will confirm my husband is cancer free with little risk of having to undergo chemo or radiation. I pray for continued healing and a peaceful recovery. I want to thank all of you for the support. The prayers, kind words, and PMs truly touched my heart. I believe in the power of prayer and I am truly thankful for how far my husband has come so far. I'm so glad he's doing better! Did he have a consult with oncology? If not I'd certainly ask for one. Sometimes urology will try to keep them just with them and they really need an Onc consult.
I'm keeping y'all in my prayers.
