Will we ever transition?

My 5 month old's nap schedule is unique.  She basically takes a 30-45 minute morning nap (in crib), followed by a 3-hour afternoon nap (in a motionless swing) and then another 30-45 minute nap at the end of the day (in motionless swing).  She changes her pattern often so this is what she's been doing for the past month.

Yesterday, I tried to see if she was ready for the crib for her second nap.  She only napped for fourty five minutes, woke up, cried for a little while and I could see in the monitor that she was clearly still tired, her eyes would be close one minute, crying the second.  Finally she settled but after 10 minutes was up again.  I tried moving her to the swing no motion to see if she would fall back asleep and she most certainly did, for another 3 hour stretch!I

I am concerned that DD is getting older but still prefers the swing.  At least there is no motion, but eventually we will need her to sleep in the crib.  Any suggestions?  Would love advice from folks that may have had a similar issue.

By way of background, DD is still swaddled for naps but sleeps in a Merlin Magic Sleep suit at night.  She sleeps for 11-12 with one MOTN.  Her wake times are between 1:45 to 2:00.  She puts herself to sleep for naps and for the night.

  • My LO has only napped in the swing, while it swings lol didn't know I wasn't supposed to be doing this. I don't see me trying the crib anytime soon, she's finally sleeping at night so I'm trying to take one thing at a time. She's no where near being too b

  • hugs! I read that sleep cycles are 45 minutes so if your LO promptly wakes at that time then the reason.

Personally I say try the crib at night we did this after realizing he actually slept well at night. He hated swaddle so we stopped afte

  • I'm curious too. Alexis won't take naps in the crib and I have a feeling the swing won't work much longer.  She usually takes a nap around 1:00 until the time I usually get off work at 3:30.  My husband usually has her nap in the swing for that
