Tell me I'm not the only mom who feels this way

I feel guilty about this, but I can't help it.

I make myself something yummy to eat after getting the kids their meals and snacks and I just want to sit for a second and enjoy my meal.   It doesn't matter what it is.... salad, cereal, anything, and the kids flock around me, like baby birds with their beaks open.

I mean, I *just* fed you.  You're not hungry.  Let Mama have her moment to herself where I don't have to share my food.

Dh doesn't get my irritation and sort of makes me feel bad about it.  "But, they're your children...."  Yeah, the ones I.just.fed.  Like, all.day.long.  And I just don't always feel like sharing.

  • Yeh I hear you.  Especially something I have been craving or if ds has been glued to me.  I just need a few moments.  Today ds was climbing on me while I was eating my breakfast.  I had the same thing I gave him.  He was so up on

  • I feel the exact same way. I will usually tell them they can have one bite and then no more. I also cannot stand it when they're trying to climb all over me when I'm trying to eat. I started a rule where no one can sit on my lap while I'm eating. My DH lo

  • I feel exactly the same!  DH gets even more annoyed than I do when the kids run over to him whenever he eats something.

  • If my DD had any idea how much ice cream I eat after she goes to bed, she'd never speak to me again. :) I save my treats for after hours.

  • Ds2 is 2 and always wants to eat my food. He says me eat yours mommy. I share of course but would really like to eat in peace from time to time. He loves veggies on my plate so that is a plus since he doesn't eat them well off of his own plate.
  • Yes.  It makes me bonkers.  I am easy going and let them help decide and make lunch, but I am also trying to lose weight, so my lunch is slightly different.  And I get them settled, then make my lunch and the instant I sit one needs

  • We always eat as a family.  DS2 has been stealing my food lately.  I decided it was good for my waistline and now he is trying more new foods.  He copies DS1 who has sensory issues and is really picky.

  • If my kids are home, we eat family meals and we all eat the same thing unless at a restaurant so I don't really deal with that issue.  If I want a snack, I offer my kids a snack.  If there is something I really want to eat and don't want to shar

  • I hear ya.  Sometimes I'll hide in the kitchen and eat my snack/treat while the kids are in the living room, or I'll wait until after they're in bed, so I don't have to share.  <img src="https://community.thebump.com/cs/emoticons/e

  • I just want to say as a mom of a very picky eater that I would welcome that any time and all the time. It would not bother me at all, even if my DD was not picky I don't think I would mind. As long as I know my children are getting fed enough and I am get

  • I know exactly what you mean, I can not eat a meal without DD wanting or needing something, and I always feed her before me or with me.
  • Yeah, sometimes I feel like this too. DS usually wants whatever I have. But other times, it's kind of cute. Last night, I had a piece of chocolate, and DS saw it and said, "That's too big! You have to share with me!" LOL

  • That's one of the things that bugs the sh*t out of me more than almost anything else.  Heck, they could be away from me for an hour playing by themselves, as soon as I have food (even if it makes NO noise) it's like they have this 6th sense.
