is everyone having baby vaccinated witth he hep b shot? From what I understand this will be offered during the hospital stay as well as a vit k shot. My dh is curious.
I have researched both sides and feel very confident in my pro-vax stance. Baby Cora will be getting all routine treatment (hep B included) during the newborn exam.
We have delayed the Hep B vaccine at birth with all of our LOs and plan to do the same with this pregnancy. We have done and will continue to do the Vitamin K shot at birth. We start vaccinations at 2 months.
I'm declining while at the hospital. After I looked up why the CDC recommends it and realized it was only because the WHO was docking them on scoring, and then realized the reasons the WHO recommends it at birth I realized my baby doesn't need it that ear
We are delaying vaccinations with DS. No Hep B. Not necessary since I don't have Hep B... he will get it for sure, just not at birth. DS is getting Vit K b/c he's being circumcised.

I found a few recent medical journal articles which estimate that about 300,000 neonates (babies younger than 1 month of age) will undergo a blood transfusion... so if these babies are not vaccinated at birth, about 1 every year or so will contract Hep B.

We will be doing a delayed schedule and not allowing more than 2 vaccines at a time. He will get all the shots, just not quite as rapidly as the recommendations. We'll start with his first shot/s at 2 months...
We are delaying vaccinations until 2 months, and we ended up getting a liquid vitamin K drop solution (had to get at pharmacy and will bring to hospital), instead of having our newborn get a needle.
