Oh no, y'all, I have a new name crush. This is bad because: 1) we have already had a girl's name picked since I was pregnant three years ago, and 2) I'm not pregnant again yet anyway. But I can't stop thinking about this one, and the only other name I've crushed on this hard was the name we chose for DS.
So anyways, what do y'all think about Drusilla (nn Dru)? Too prissy or just the right amount of old-fashioned-ness to make it cool? (According to SSA, it hasn't been in the top 1,000 since 1913.)
Do you think the BTVS character association ruins this name too much? (I agree it's not the most positive association, buuuut that show hasn't been on the air in a decade. Would her peers even have heard of it?)
I think it makes a nice sibset with Dashiell (nn Dash), but is it too matchy? FWIW, my name also starts with D. Are we the next Kardashians?
Also, on a semi-related note, are double middle names universally hated, or can they work if there's family significance? Our top choice girl's name for our first used two well-loved family names, so if we introduce a new first name, I would be sad to have to drop either one.

Re: Drusilla (and a middle name question)
Yea. Same for me, but I actually think the name is pretty.

One of the ugly stepsisters in Cinderella is named Drusilla (dd and I watch this every other day).
Also, bare with me as I am an archaeologist and everyone may not know this (so it may not be a big deal to you), but Drusilla was the sister of t

Pro: I love Roman names.
Con: it does sound vaguely witchy to me (I never watched Buffy so I don't know why). There is the association with Caligula's sister but there were a number of other Roman women named Drusilla, so as far

The first thing I think of is Cinderella, although Drusilla redeems herself in the second movie. That and the fact that it's a bible name.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
And I always think of one scene in particular where she rejects flower from Spike, saying, "I cannot abide them!" (Thought y'all should know).
My parents had a dog named Drusilla nn Dru before I was born. She was still alive when I was born though.
I personally think it's somewhat cute for a human. I love Dashiell! I do think the two names are too matchy though, sorry.
