You are my long lost twin! We recently moved to TN and they dont have them everywhere like they do in GA and AL! we are going home to AL for christmas and I cant wait to stock up and bring some home to freeze! DH's grandfather is a peanut farmer, so we have the hookup!
eeeeewwwwww. are you kidding. The hubs and I went on a road trip and first discovered boiled peanuts in South Carolina. We thought they smelled funny. I tired one and it was like mush in my mouth. I'm a texture girl and that texture was not for me.
oh yeah! the place I usually get then was closed tonight so I went to Kroger and got a thing of caned ones. Was kinda scared to try them, but they are actually PERFECT! really soft and SUPER salty! (almost too salty if there was such a thing)

Enjoy you mushy nuts
lol. DH says the same thing. He won't go near them, if he can help it. He won't even let me eat them in the car with the windows up. (he caved this time as I kinda played the "I'm PG and want boiled peanuts!" card. haha
Oh, they can be too salty. I am normally a texture person, but not with boiled peanuts!
me too! i dont eat?avocado, pumpkin anything, sweet potatoes, because of the mush! but I have anyways loved boiled peanuts! and yes they can be too salty!
i've never had boiled peanuts... i guess i'll have to try them if i ever come across them! all we have around here are roasted nuts...which i can't wait to get in NYC next weekend!!!
I'm not 100% sure (I've only been there 3 times). But I know they live by a bowling ally and a dairy Queen. LOL I should know this I was just there last May.

I think I know where you mean. That's off Hwy 92. It crosses over I-575. The Bowling Alley and DQ are just east of the interstate.
I love boiled peanuts. DH and I went to Charleston for the honeymoon and he fell in love with them. I grew up in the South so they have always been soemthing that I have enjoyed.
I'd never heard of boiled peanuts before :P What are they like and where does one find them?
In the south, you can find them almost anywhere (esp on the side of the interstate/ exit) or you can buy them canned at the grocery store.
They are peanuts still in the brine/shell that are boiled with a bit of salt till they are really soft and almost mushy inside. (Though, the 'mushy' ones are icky to me. I just like them soft). They are best when eaten hot but still pretty good after being refrigerated.
