I don't post often but mostly lurk. I've researched this all over the internet and can't find much. My almost 3 yr old likes to suck his food instead of chew it. He started it around 15 months old. I have tried everything from ignoring it, to positive reinforcement for chewing, to "yelling" at him for it. Its not with every food, mostly pancakes, sandwiches, cookies or fruit. He doesn't have a problem with his mouth or anything. Its so aggravating because the noise enrages me and it takes him so long to finish his meals. We have his check up soon and I will of course ask, but wanted to see if any of you dealt with this??
TIA
Re: Almost 3 yr old sucking on food??
I have
I'd say it's most likely a phase, and as agitating as that noise is, at least he is eating it. My LO takes over an hour to eat dinner, which some days drives me insane, but as long as she is happy and eating, I will let her do it how she wants to.
