WWS12D? re: clothes for future seasons

So I have some Kohls cash and gift cards, and I'm looking online at the boys' clearance stuff. I found a coat, mittens and hat that would be perfect for next winter for CHEAP, but I'm not sure what size to order.

If DS is wearing mostly 9 mo. stuff now (with some 6 mo thrown in there, although it's too short and a little snug) would you order 18 mo or 24 mo?

I can only base this on experience with my first. He didnt really grow much since about 10 months. We are in 12 to 18 months clothes and I don't see that changing any time soon.

I would try to buy big for outerwear. Those are ok bulky.
