HELLP Syndrome question

So I am not one to unnecessarily freak out. If anything I tend to assume the best until things get really really bad. Google doesn't freak me out much because the worst case scenarios are so rare.
I've had pain almost under my rib on the right side and figured its just my uterus bumping against my rib cage. I'm short and short waisted, so it's not unlikely. I can't lay on my right side for more than a minute. Ugh. I started to wonder why it's just the right side, so I went to google.
There I found HELLP. The problem is I've had headaches on and off all pregnancy. They eased up, but then I had one for 24 hours up until this morning. Symptom 2.
I've also had epilepsy for years so I take meds to not have seizures and having an aura happens occasionally. Symptom 3, maybe?
Fatigue... I assumed getting more tired again was just part of getting bigger. The second tri energy doesn't always last the whole second tri, and the fatigue isn't awful, so I don't know if that counts as a symptom?
Upper back pain, meet size G boobs. Duh.
My question, does anyone have any experience with or know people that have had HELLP? Would it be more obvious if I was having early symptoms? Any thoughts would be appreciated until I can make my first neurotic call to the Dr tomorrow!

Re: HELLP Syndrome question

  • I have a friend who had it and I think it came on fairly suddenly.

Step away from google and try and get sleep tonight!

  • I had it with my 1st pregnancy.  It was awful but it does come on quickly.  The pain is bad and usually you're unable to pee... and often vomiting or diarrhea.   Also, blood pressure is usually quite high.

  • You may very well be able to attribute all these symptoms to other factors, or it could be something. The only way to know for sure is to have your OB do some labs, check your BP, and check your urine for protein. You should call. It's very likely nothing

  • I agree, log off google! Talk to your doctor. I had a pain in my ribs, right side and it turned out to be a kidney infection. Hope you're feeling better!
