New Here - HSG on Thursday

Hi everyone,

 New here! My husband and I have been trying TTC with no luck....had a chemical pregnancy back in November, was sure I'd conceive soon after! So, met with our RE a few weeks ago, my husbands SA came back fine, except he had 2% morphology, they want 4%, so, he needs to be retested. My blood work came back great, FSH level was 6. I have my HSG scheduled for thursday and i have heard some horror stories. I'm hoping 3 advil and a xanax will help me out! I've heard that people end up conceiving right after the HSG so, fingers crossed...if not, looks like I'm headed for an IUI!

    It's no big deal really (imo) , I didn't take anything, only because I forgot! lol Don't get me wrong it hurt like a mother fo maybe a min or two but it was over pretty quick. I did get my first BFP on the same cycle I had mine done, it ended in a cp

    SA- Abnormal Dx:MFI
    DH on 50mg Clomid 3x week
    BFP#1- 1/21/13 CP 1/24/13
    Cycle 18,19 & 20 50mg Clomid+trigger+IUI= All BFFN
    Cycle 21-25 Taking a break for now, still HIO Hoping!
    Moving onto IVF Next AF

    Welcome!  My HSG wasn't too bad, just a little crampy during it.  However, I didn't have any blockages.  Then light spotting for about 24 hours.  I did take ibuprofen about an hour before.

    Also, my DH's morph was 2%.

    Ultrasound #1 10/6: 1 bean!

    I recently had the HSG done. They say the worst part is when they inject the dye in although for me I was more uncomfortable when RE inserted the balloon thing, I think to expand the uterine cavity. I took 3 Advil and a Valium and I am glad I did because
    TTC since June 2011
    DX: DH (30) severe MFI, severely low count & low motility
    Me (32): all clear
    Appt with Urologist 5/21/12: exam, ultrasound, bloodwork all normal.
    Testicular Biopsy with TESE on 6/8/12. good sperm found! (left side only) froze sperm, failed thaw test :(
    Orientation for IVF/ICSI on 6/13/12. Waiting for the green light following biopsy results...results show adequate sperm production both sides.
    2nd SA 6/18/12: sample is "adequate for ICSI"
    Plan: IVF/ICSI July 2012!
    ER: 7/26/12. 15 eggs retrieved, all mature.
    TESE/TESA/aspiration from epididymis, no motile sperm found :(
    froze all eggs, the saga of praying for good sperm continues.
    8/3/12: 2nd opinion from MFI uro on biopsy slides. Suspects "partial late maturation arrest."
    Plan: more SAs, third biopsy/TESE with frozen back-up either from DH or DS.
    SA 8/17/12: Zero sperm
    SA 8/23/12: Zero sperm
    9/26/12: SPERM FOUND! 15 eggs thawed, 12 survived and were ICSI'd, only 3 fertilized normally. Refrozen as embies and will thaw in Nov. Please survive and grow!
    All 3 survived the thaw on 11/15/12!
    FET 11/17/12: transferred 2, one 4B, one 4C. Beta 11/30:BFFN
    moving on to DS
    DIUI#1 2/18/13,50mg Clomid cd 3-7, Ovidrel trigger, Beta 3/4/13: BFN.
    DIUI#2 3/19/13, 50 mg Clomid cd 3-7, Ovidrel trigger, Beta #1 (14dpiui) 4/2/13: BFP!!!! 150. Beta #2 4/4/13: 420 Beta #3 4/8/13: 2691. Beta #4 4/15/13: 15,086
    1st u/s 4/8/13 shows one gestational sac
    2nd u/s 4/15/13 shows yolk sac, fetal pole and early heartbeat
    3rd u/s 4/25/13: measuring right on track. Heart rate 148 bpm
    A/S 7/22/13: IT'S A BOY!!

    Good luck with the HSG Thursday. Mine was painful, but it is really quick. The moment its over you get instant relief. Just tell yourself it will be over very soon if it start really hurting. Then I had cramps that afternoon but just like bad pms cramp

    I had mine yesterday. I was so scared, but it was very quick. My periods are incredibly painful so the cramps that I had during it were nothing. Cramped when they inflated the balloon and a few hours after but no biggy.

    Welcome and good luck.  My HSG wasn't great but now its over with and I moved on to HSG.  I was so hoping the HSG would do the trick but nope.  It will all be worth it in the end.  
    ***SIGGY WARNING***

    DX: Unexplained
    6 Failed IUIs (Clomid and Gonal F).  
    IVF #1 began August 2013- BC, 4 days of Estrace, stimmed with Gonal F and Menopur, Ganirelix, 9R 5M 5F, Medrol and Doxycycline, 5 day transfer of 2 early blastocysts- good quality, Progesterone, Estrace, and baby aspirin, BETA on 9/20 BFN,   IVF #2 began September 2013, stimming with Gonal F (higher dose) and Menopur, Ganirelix, 18R 14M 9F with ICSI, 5 day transfer of 2 BBs one was starting to hatch, 2 frosties: 1  BB and 1 AC, BETA on 10/21, BFN BETA was a 5- chemical 
    Getting some more testing and trying to figure out what the issue is before FET in December, started acupuncture on 11/10, RLP and some other BW nothing major to report except slightly high Prolactin. Prolactin was slightly high when I started with my RE and I already had an MRI which was Neg.  Endo biopsy=negative.  WTF is wrong with us???
    12/18/13 FET of 1 BB and 1 AC.  Hoping for a miracle.  Beta 12/26 Low BETA-8 2nd BETA 5- chemical
    After 3 failed transfers IDK where to go from here.  Still no real answers as to why this isn't working.  Getting a second opinion in February and looking into immune testing.  
    2/14- NEW RE- Immune testing showed a partial dq alpha match with DH- On prednisone and did intralipids prior to transfer.  3/14 Lupron, gonal f, menopur, HGH.  ER 15 mature all 15 fertilized!  5dt of an early blast grade 1 and an expanded blast grade 2.  BETA on 4/21.  1 grade 2 embryo frozen
    BETA #1 59 BETA #2 148 BETA #3 283 BETA #4 2,783! US at 6w2d shows 1 bean measuring right on track! HR 121.  US at 8w3d measuring on track HR 177. Released form my RE.  EDD 12/28

    Welcome! I took four advil before my HSG per my RE's instructions. It was painful, but that part is quick. For me the pain was more pressure than cramping. I made myself so anxious about the procedure and that made it ten times worse. Good luck!
    TTC #1 since May 2006 - We thought we were done in 2010, but we are back again!
    PCOS (anovulatory and amenorrhea) and hypothyroid.
    Currently taking Metformin 1500 MG and Synthroid.
    Prior HSG and DH SAs were clear.
    Feb 2013 - Switched clinics/RE and starting from the beginning again with some modifications.
    Current status: CD 3 appointment showed lining was too thick (11.5 mm). Endometrial biopsy scheduled for CD 11. Next steps will be based on results.

    I survived. A few curse words may have slipped out during the process though! It was uncomfortable for about 2 minutes..then it was over. I took the day off of work, def didn't need to. My tubes and uterus are perfect so, let's hope this little "power was
