Are you BF shopping for dipes? If so I'd love to hear what great deals you've found. I've spent enough this morning, but I think I've finished out our stash. Not to say I couldn't be persuaded by great prices to add a little more ;)

Deals I shopped -

Kawaii diapers for $5/ea (luvyourbaby.com). Free shipping at $80, so of course I HAD to buy 16

Nicki's Diapers - Planet Wise wet bags at 40% off, Indian prefold dozens for $14 and organics for $17, a Boba wrap, and a bunch of other odds and ends. Extra 10% off with code BF13, free shipping at $75, freebies at various price levels (at $100 I got free baby leg or reusable snack bag and free small wetbag)

ETA: Nicki's has a lot of dipes 20-30% off as well. I stayed strong and didn't look :)

Re: @predempsey and other CD ladies

  • I got 6 Thirsties duo wrap covers for about $2 off each and a small PW wet bag (not as good of a deal as you got though!), and I threw in a snappi to get my order to $75 so I could get $25 back in stash cash. This was at www.diaperjunction.com.

I'm in Canada, and with the cross border limitations many companies put on retailers, I was limited to shopping within Canada. (Sales are a lot less fun up here...) I ended up getting a ton of Grovia bamboo prefolds and wipes at 10% off. As well as an apple cheeks wet bag at 15% off. That's pretty good for up here, so I'm super excited about it. My newborn stash is outrageous, and I have expensive wool taste... So I have to watch myself from now on.

  • I think I'm pretty set on my stash already - I have 13 Charlie Banana, 6 Alva Baby, 1 BumGenius, 2 Kawaii and 6 pockets of an unknown brand (gift from a friend, haven't received them yet). I do need a good wet bag though, I might go check those out. My stash is all pockets - any of you doing pockets are you planning on trying disposable liners for when you're out and about?
I'm doing pockets and prefolds. I have 18 pockets that I will probably use when I'm out, but I think I'll like the prefolds at home. Who really knows, though. I'm a FTM. I do have a ton of liners that a friend gave me. She said she never liked them, but I'm going to try them out. I don't wan to deal with super poopy diapers sitting in a wet bag, and I don't know how else to get the solids off the diapers while in public.

  • Hillarycwkelly - I plan on getting a roll of disposable liners to try out once we're no longer EBF (since it's my understanding that EBF poo is water soluble I'm not too concerned about it in the wet bag). I can definitely see the advantage when out and about once we're moving into food poo territory.

I also plan to buy or make a set of reusable liners in case we need to use a diaper cream...and maybe for home use so that if we stain something horrible it's a cheap liner rather than the diaper itself. It looks like the reusable type are just thin fleece fabric, so that would be easy/cheap to make.

  • ovenrack - I sent my mom some info on making wool covers from Goodwill sweaters in the hopes she would volunteer. She wouldn't make any promises, but I'm hoping there's some in my future. If not I guess I'll suck it up and drag out the sewing machine.

  • I went in person to our local little baby store and got a chevron sustainablebabyish AIO for $20 (15 bucks off) .. A thirsties AIO for $10 (7 bucks off) and a weehuggers cover for $5 (5 bucks off) (plus a nursing tank for 15 dollars off and a free medium wet bag!) only spent 50 bucks total yay!

I also got two planet wise pail liners for 2 bucks off each and a free pair of babylegs and a free sample of a random detergent from momsmilkboutique.com --
I've shopped with them 3 times now and quite like it. I almost got the GroVia buy 2 get 1 free with their new prints but decided we didn't need em!

I found the deals on kellysdiapers to be disappointing :/ didn't end up shopping with them.

Overall in our stash we have 12 newborn prefolds - 8 covers in various sizes (some OS) and 15 AIOs in various sizes (some OS) ... So I think all we really need are some more prefolds (hoping to have a stash of 36 options total) but I hadn't found a good deal on any today- ill check out the sites you all shopped from!!!
  • @carisue143 - Nicki's prefolds (that I posted about in original post) get good reviews and are very affordable. I found a lot of reviewers who liked them as well as the GMD's, or more so due to cost difference.

  • Kawaiis are great! I just got some good night heavy wetters for my older boys and they are wonderful. I had to refresh my stash since the elastic on my old dipes was worn out.

I've bought basically everything through the facebook co-ops. I'm happy to tell you more if you want, its the cheapest prices around, but you have to wait awhile. Definitely not enough time to get NB stuff but you could get dipes for out of the NB phase.

  • @carisue143 - holy scores! Just wanted to let you know that Sbish doesn't make AIOs. But their OBF fitteds (what their chevron diapers are), are FANTASTIC night time diapers when paired with a good cover.

Oh sadness!!! That means I have to cover up the cute print eh?! Well at least I'll see its adorableness. We have another one from them just a white one with blue trim and snaps ... It is thick with like 3 included inserts ... I'm guessing that needs a cover too?
  • @megngregk: I've used the disposable liners (g-diapers and bummis brands) and didn't really like them. The idea is good, but they tend to bunch up and so the poop ends up on the diaper anyway. Plus, DS seemed to get more diaper rash when I used them.

I didn't shop too many BF sales this year. I wasn't home (travelling back from Thanksgiving with family) so I missed a lot of things. I did buy one of the retired Chelsea Perry BG 4.0 packs from Cotton Babies because 4.0's are my favorite and I'm a sucker for prints.

  • @carisue143 - wear them cover less around the house! They are really absorbent so take a long time to feel wet on the outside. My baby napped in just them (no cover or clothes) the summer he was 1. They are really breathable and great to "air" out the baby's skin.

@rowanthefrog do you do mostly pockets or a mix of different types?
Hillarycwkelly I have a mix. When I CDed DS2 I had mostly pockets and a few AIO. This time I have a mix of AIO, fitted/covers, and pockets.

For the newborn phase I'm doing mostly fitted/covers and prefolds/covers. I have a few NB AIO as well.

Here's my stash if you want to get an idea:

    Newborn: 31 fitteds/prefolds, 11 covers, 6 AIO (11 covers,13 prefolds, 3 hemp fitteds, 6 AIO, 2 hemp/ctn fitted, 5 Charcoal Bamboo fitted, 4 Bamboo Velour fitted, 5 NB inserts (doublers))

One size (10-36lb) - 30 diapers, 45 inserts (7 AIO, 15 pockets. 45 inserts (hemp, charcoal bamboo and microfiber, 6 OS covers, 6 OS fitted (3 with PUL, 3 without))

Overnight options (currently used by my older boys but will use for this one too once he gets bigger) - 12 Kawaii goodnight heavy wetters. I figure I will have 3 boys in them at a time (or whenever my oldest stops wetting at night) so I have enough for 4 nights and 3 boys.

10 trainers (equivalent of light, day-wetting pullups)

  • For poop, I have disposable, flushable liners that I put in the dipe when I know there will be poop (this is once they start solids and for my 2 yr old.) I can just knock it off in the toilet or into a plastic bag and toss it with the wipes.
