Back Pain...epidural or c-section?

I had my LO two weeks ago via c-section after I stopped progressing. We started out thinking it was going to be vaginal so I had the epidural...then later it was determined I may be better off with a c-section since I'd stopped progressing and the baby's heart rate dipped twice.

Now I have lower back pain and I'm not sure where it comes from. My sister who had both her kids vaginally told me that since her first epidural 11 years ago, she does have weird pain in her back from time to time and she can't really attribute it to anything else.

I don't know why I'm assuming if it was the epidural that the pain would not be in my lower back. So is it possible it could be from the pressure during the c-section?

It's like a throbbing pain that happens after any small amount of work that involves my back...like bending over. It's hit me like 3 times since the surgery and the pain is so horrible it makes me stop whatever I'm doing until the throbbing goes away.

Does anyone have lower back pain since delivery...either c-section or vaginal with epidural?

  • It could be from the epidural. It could also be gas pains, which can present in your back. I've noticed that more especially after a surgery like a c/s.

  • I have miserable back pain. I had a vbac with an epi. I think my pain is from my weak abs and over working my back muscles. It's better now that I've stopped lifting my 2 yr old. Give it more time.
