A neighbor WWYD

SO we just go new neighbors directly next door a month ago. Unlike previous neighbor posts, we have met and our kids have played and they are quite nice. The problem is they have a giant dog, and a view fence with a park view and they leave their dog outside all day when they are at work. The fing dog barks for like 10 hours straight everyday (ok maybe he takes a nap but it seems like its that long). He/she barks so loud that I can hear it in the house with all my windows closed. I can't really open them because it irritates me too much. It comes through on the baby monitor and has woken DS2 up several times from his nap.  Anyhoo, would you say something? I haven't said anything yet because I'm pretty sure they aren't doing anything wrong since its just during the day right? It goes about 8-9 am to 6-7 pm and then they let it in for the night. I feel bad being mean but it is seriously annoying. Would you talk to them? What would you say?

  • Does your city have a noise ordinance and or dog owner restrictions...?

In my city, that wouldn't fly. I'd call your nonemergency police line and ask. Personally, I'd make an anon complaint rather than possibly getting into a disagreement w

  • Every city is different, but leaving your dog outside to bark excessively for hours isn't allowed around here. We have very strict animal owner rules.

  • Lurker mostly butting in... we had this problem with a neighbor in our old condo complex. They had a standard poodle who barked from the second they left until they got home, roughly 5a-5p all day, every day. It was brutal, especially for our friends

I think I would say something to them directly. Like PP said they aren't home all day so how so they know that the dog barks all day? I mean sure I would think they would expect the dog to barkssometimes but I doubt they know the dog barks all day. Especi

I would mention it. Otherwise how would they know? Maybe just a 'hey I don't know if you had this problem at your old
