We attempted to break the swaddle about 2 weeks ago. The first night was horrible. The second was better. Then the third and fourth were horrible again. We decided it just wasn't time yet.
Then 2 nights ago was horrible even with the swaddle. So last night we swaddled without the arms and she slept great! Such a relief to know my daughter won't need to be swaddled by her college roomate.

Re: Breaking the swaddle
Audrey hasnt started rolling back to front yet, but I am toying with the idea of breaking the swaddle too.
I am either going to try arms out or a looser swaddle tonight. *It's a velcro swaddle so a looser one still wouldnt work up to her face.<

Benjamin loves the Halo arms out swaddle too. It was a rough transition for only one night though. I thought it'd be way worse. He has to have that swaddle around the middle though. I've been told that by maybe 6 months he won't need that anymore.
<Congrats on making progress!
Please, everyone, share your strategies!! we are just about getting to that point where we are going to have to deal with this. And I have no idea how to go about it...
We have the swaddle me ones and have done the one arm swaddle a few times. I find it's easier to leave the right arm out than the left. Have her arm out and start the swaddle underneath her arm while enveloping the left arm still.
We only do that
