45 minutes and counting..

Our current wait time for our second a/s. They didn't like our first results so here we wait. Our appt. was at 9:30 and here we still sit. This is so frustrating. I know things happen, but can you give us an estimate?? Some people have to get to work.

Re: 45 minutes and counting..

  • Just curious are you having the u/s at the hospital? This happens to me when I have to go to Antepartum testing at my hospital. The wait is always at least an hour. I can't stand it when they can't stick to the schedule why bother to make an appointment then?

  • I waited an hour and 15 minutes for my checkup last week.... I know you're busy but come on! Good luck!
  • The OB practice is always subject to long waits. If someone is called away for an emergency ultrasound or the birth of a baby then it puts everyone behind. It comes with the territory.

I understand that its frustrating, but you might have to reschedule if you have to get to work.

I was supposed to have 2 u/s and 2 appts the day I went for my A/S. My A/S was scheduled for 8 am, and they were over an hour late. I had to reschedule my other u/s and one of my appts. It really was very frustrating, but I'm not sure what can be done since there are emergency situations.

In my case, I was completely mismanaged and there was a severe lack of communication, but that can happen in any high stress workplace. Sorry you have to wait. It does suck when you are on a tight time table to get back to work.

  • We finally got in and the baby looks great.  They came to apologize at about the hour mark.  Which I truly appreciated.  I took the day, but my dh did not.  Thankfully he called his work and they told him family first--which I love about his job.

Turns out I needed an internal u/s too because they are worried about my cervix.  I think my dh was horrified.  I have been placed on modified bed rest for a week to see what happens to my cervix.  They have recommended progesterone to help.  Have any of you used it or had family members who did???

I used progesterone suppositories for all of first tri, do you know which kind you're getting?  I believe there is a pill that you can take orallty, or insert vaginally.  I was on the actual suppositories that look like little bullets.  Very messy and you'll need a pad to catch the drip all day long, but just a minor inconvenience.

Did they work for you??  My DH is trying to weigh the pros and the cons--sometimes research being his job is a bad thing.  They recommended the vaginal ones.  In my mind it is a no brainer, if it will help.  The specialist is seeing us again in a week and said we could wait until then to make the decision.  My DH has been hovering already--this is only going to make it worse.

I didn't use them for a specific reason, for example your doctor is concerned about your cervix. I was prescribed them after my first beta draw by my RE for the sole reason that I previously had an early loss, and she didn't want to take any chances. My progesterone was also fine at that point, but again, due to my previous loss they said more progesterone couldn't hurt any. I didn't have a choice in which one because my insurnace wouldn't cover the pill one, and it would have been like $700 out of pocket. As far as I know, there aren't any risks associated with it, so I would say if it will help, go for it. Good luck!

Just a few tips...if you have any leftover applicators from Preeseed (of if you can buy any) they help a LOT with insertion, I could never get them in far enough with just my finger and then it was uncomfortable until it melted some.  Make sure you lay down for at least 30 minutes afterward...some will still leak all day long, which is why I suggested a pad, not just a liner.
