1st Trimester

Hair Products

I was just curious if a lot of you changed your shampoo and conditioner during pregnancy.  I've been so concerned with everything else..what I'm eating...cleaning products ....makeup etc. I forgot to even consider changing that part of my lifestyle.  It just seems that you should avoid EVERYTHING while pregnant..it is a bit overwhelming. I'm about 6 weeks now.

Re: Hair Products

  • I recently changed all of my hygiene products, including shampoo, body wash, makeup, everything. But not just because I am pregnant, because I've done alot of research on the ingredients in things and the effects they may have on the human body. I've been using this website alot as a guide on the safety of my products. https://www.ewg.org/skindeep/

  • No, my hair products are where I drew the line. You could drive yourself crazy with all of the pregnancy don't s. none of my friends changed their hair products and had very healthy happy babies.

I switched my hair and skin care products awhile ago to organic and/or laureth/sulfate/paraben-free in attempt to get away from harsh chemicals in general, but that's more personal preference than the fear of harming my baby.

Ditto. We are (as much as possible) a paraben/sulfate/phthlate free house.
