Have we done this one? What are some names you love, but just wouldn't ever use? Since there are a few name threads going, it got me thinking about it.
The name Iris is really pretty and interesting to me, but I could never use it. I know people would think I'm a weirdo (at least the people in my family). There are probably more, but I need to think haha.
Mostly mine are traditional Irish names. I LOVE Seamus for a boy. But MH has totally vetoed it. I really would consider using it. For girls I love, love, love Saorise (pronounced SEER-sha), Roisin (ro-SHEEN), Niamh (Nee-ev), and Siobhan (sha-VON).

I knew a Siobhan and thought it was a really neat name. You could totally pull that off!
Elvis, ya i know I sound crazy. I've met one guy named Elvis and i loved his name i was obssesed with it. Elvis Presly's music is something that connects to our family deeply. BF would never let me put Elvis in our baby's name(girl or boy). I think i would end up second guessing it to later on.
I love Seamus too but I don't like the nickname Shay which would probably happen naturally. Now I know this will sound crazy but ever since I was little I loved the sound Apricot. I know, I know, it's a fruit for God sake. But I always thought that if it wasn't a fruit, I would definitely use it. It's the family joke now if I have a girl.

Unfortunately, MH has vetoed all hard-to-pronounce Irish names. I came thisclose to convincing him to let me use Roisin as our daughter's middle name, but even for the MN he decided no. I was so sad! I thought maybe since no one uses their middle name hardly ever I could have that at least. Honestly, if my SO was supportive I really probably would use one of those names.
I love "F" names like Farrah and Fiona but our last name starts with a U so initials would be FU which wouldn't really fly. I also love the more common name Parker for a boy but then again we have the issue of initials being PU. Can't do that to my kid

I love Eloise, Maisie, Penelope, Pippa, Willa, Garret, Harvey, James, Wesley, West. There were more but DH talked me out of them long ago... Also my maiden name I really want as a boy option: Baxter. He won't let me I'm still fighting for it if we ever have two boys- we already settled on what DS1 & DD1's name will be
I love the name Gabrielle and the nickname could be Gabby. My DH hates it and thinks people would call her Gay Abby. I really don't know why that would bother him though because his mom is bisexual...
When I was younger (like 9 or 10) I told my parents I was going to name my future daughter Trigonometry (yes, the math)... so weird! I just thought it was pretty and I liked long names. I also really like the name Aidan for a boy but DH hates it.
I like Pippa (DH thinks it's dumb) and Akiko (DH said no because we're not Japanese....makes no sense to me because a lot of names come from other cultures/countries...harumph!)

My cousins' initials became STD when she got married. Luckily her dad was an engineer so read it as "standard".
My favorites are Abigail, McKenzie but I have two cousins with this name aleady! and Noel for a girl. For a boy, I love Noah, but my cousin has a 5 year old with that name.

DH's name is Gabriella Elizabeth and everyone always says they love the name..we call her Gabby but other options are Brie and Ella if he just doesn't like Gabby...

I think the name Iris is beautiful.
For a girl I REALLY REALLY wanted the first name to be Rayne. DH said absolutely not so he settled for a middle name because I wasn't budging. It was hard picking names we both liked though. I'm an artist and I guess I'm a little out there and wanted names that were pretty unique. DH prefers something standard and run of the mill. One of my favorites for a boy was Finn.
Not really a GP name because it's very mainstream, but I love the name Ava. It is so popular, though, so there's no way I'd name my kid that (I swore with all the Katie's and Jessica's in my class I would never intentionally give my kid a super popular name).
I also like Malachi, Xavier, Mary Jane, and Annelise, but those would never fly.

Useless Information: Malachi always reminds me of the movies Children of the Corn.
I love he name Dexter, but my last name is McWeeney. I know it is ridiculous my BIL said it sounded like Dickster McWeeney. That was our deal breaker on that name.
We have to name our baby with a name that is common in Turkish and English. Our family lives in Turkey and we are the only ones here. We have to come up with a Turkish name that should be at least easy to say in English. So far we found a girl name, Kayla which I always liked. It has a beautiful meaning in Turkish too, it means pure, innocent.
I've always loved Caroline - I'm from S Carolina so I feel like it is a little nod to home without being cheesy. DH doesn't love it, but it is in the 'possible' pile.
Somehow I subconsciously knew, years ago, that my future DH might not have the same taste in names as me so I named my first car Caroline. She was an awesome car and I still miss her.
I love the name Kasia (Ka-sha). It's polish like our last name. Her middle name will be Yvonne after my mom since our DD's middle name is after DH's mom. Well....her initials would be KYJ and I'm terrified that her nick name would be KY jelly or something...lol. My mom thinks I'm crazy!!!!
Re: s/o Names--Guilty Pleasure names?
I like Iris!! I think it's a pretty name.
Ah! I love Ivy too! It wouldn't sound weird with my last name, but I think my husband would hate it haha. He's so picky..
Edit: Oh and plus, I'm naming my first girl Avery so Avery and Ivy might be weird together haha.

And Juniper. I think I actually would use this but my husband thinks it's too hippie.
Oh my gosh, this made me LOL
This and the name Everett. DH says H to the no on these!!
