sent home from the hospital

My contractions are about 5 mins. apart and have been since 7am, but LnD sent me because I'm making no progress. I'm still only a fingertip1cm dialated, and the contractions are not getting closer or more intense, but they are getting longer. I'm just super irritated and in a lot of pain. I don't know how they expect me to just go along like thus. How long can I just keep contracting like this for no reason? ?

Re: sent home from the hospital

  • I've been contracting regularly for over 2 weeks, and painfully contracting for a week.  It's waking me up in the night.

It's normal.  Your body is making very slow progress.

Honestly, it's probably better to be annoyed with moderate pain for a week or two vs. being given pitocin when there's no medical reason and be in a TON of pain that may not be warranted.

  • Clearly from my post below this can go on for a while unfortunately. I feel your pain (literally and figuratively)- you could request they strip your membranes but that only really helps if its actual labor time and not just prodromal labor. Hang in there!

  • At this point, take anything as progress. Even the contractions getting longer. Maybe since you are laboring like this, delivery will go quickly. :)
