October 2011 Moms

WTF, Blu?

Is being the perfect mom sucking all the fun out of you?

Lately you've said cunty things about people having their kids too close together, FF their kids too soon, and sleep training their kids.

Now you're just going after LJ in the effing shoe thread just to be rude to her?

Dude, we get it. You follow the AAP to the letter. GAWD.

  • LOL Crystal!  Well, I'm shocked and offended that my shoe thread was desecrated in such a manner.  Let's focus on the larger issue here.  WHAT DO I TELL MY MOTHER IN LAW ABOUT THE KEENS?

Never wear them with socks  and never wear them ever if you're over the age of 10.

Yea, but we are from the PNW, people wear sandles with socks here...unfortunately.

  • I really didn't expect great controversy in a shoe thread.

And all of DD's shoes are used...
  • I'm the loser who had never even heard of Keens until the shoe thread. What should I tell my MIL?

me too! We both probably still think fanny packs are cool and wear teal and fuchsia warmup suits to walk at the mall.

I've never heard of keens, dude likes to run, or pediwhatever. I thought Stride rite was the ish. Apparently, i was wrong. And let's be real, was Blu ever fun? I think she's a self righteous knowitall. I cringe with every one of her responses. Personally, I think parents who religiously follow the aap and live by scientific research are shitty parents. • You guys obviously don't live in hippie towns. Keens make up about 75% of the used kid's shoes here. They're easy for them to put on and really easy to clean, so we'll probably get a pair at some point. And no socks, obvs.

Wow. That's harsh. I guess I'm a shitty parent then because I do my research and try to make the best choices for my child according to what is proven to be best/healthiest/safest.

Look, I agree with you that the sanctimommy thing can be annoying no matter who it's coming from. If someone asks for advice I will give them my option on what I think is best, but at the end of the day I don't care what they chose to do with their own child. As long as they are safe, and not endangering my kid. You want to give your kid a bunch of crap food, put them in solid shoes, sleep train, not sleep train, etc, etc,. Good on you. It's your kid to raise how you please.

However, you saying that someone who chooses to do whats known to be best for their child, after doing their research, is a pretty crappy and ignorant thing to say. Sorry, but by saying that you are being just as judgey (if not more) than any knowitall mom out there.

I do actually follow pretty much everything the AAP says, but not just because I follow what they say blindly. So I guess I do get your point there. I just happen to agree that the majority of their recommendations are, in fact, the best choice.

I just take offense to calling any parent shitty, who truely believes they are doing what is best for their child. Whether you agree with their choices or not. We are all entitled to our opinion though. Agree to disagree it is.

Maybe I am misinterpreting, but I think she meant that following research, etc, without applying your own common sense to your own child's/family's situation is not good parenting. Blindly following anyone's advice is never a good idea, IMO. I think the extended bottle feeding thread is a good example of why you might not necessarily take scientific studies to be the be all and end all of what you should or shouldn't do. In a lot of situations, there are variables that can't be controlled for, which I think would have more statistical sigificance on an issue if they could be tested properly. I don't think wilson is a "screw science" type. I think all she's saying is use your head, know your child, and use common sense (while doing your research, obv).

Edit: I see wilson has already clarified. Move along then, nothing to see here.

You did a much better job of clarifying than I did!  Thanks, Woodsie.

I really don't think Blu gives a crap on whether or not people follow AAP. I think she doesn't like LJ and took an opportunity to be snarky. She has some opinions and thoughts which aren't popular. Everyone else side eyes her and moves on. If LJ doesn't like it she can GBCB again or better yet block Blu. Blu isn't going to change her ways so really this is a waste of time.

I think bleaching your azzhole is a waste of time, but we still discussed it and I'm ok with that.

LOL. You're such a dumfluck. You could say no to your veterinarian if you feel you are being "extorted". But you seem hell bent on saying all vets are evil. Better yet why don't you give up your cat to the shelter? Oh wait. You did that once...whatever LJ I think Blu has better things to do than harrass you. You don't seem worth sh!t to me.

    One word: PetsBest

It's pet health insurance and it's the greatest damn thing known to man. For 35 dollars a month, my dog had a better health insurance policy than my 500 dollar a month health insurance. When you get a pet, you are accepting responsibility for all of the charges that come along with them. If its that big of a deal, get insurance. If its still that big of a deal and you still feel ripped off....don't get a pet. Pretty simple. But that's JMO.

That's the reason this whole thread was started. It wasn't just about Blu's dislike for LJ. She's said some pretty offensive things lately. I mean, I was offended by her car seat comment to Kris and I don't ever plan on having another child.

I think that the important thing to take away from this is, if you let your children wear hand me down shoes, you don't love them enough.

    image

I must have missed the carseat comment. If she called Kris a shitty parent well then that that was pretty... well, shitty of her. I think that's true of anyone that degrades someone for their parenting choices.

Also, yes obviously letting your kids wear hand me down shoes means you don't love them. Also feeding pouches and letting them watch tv.

She then defended her statement and said she didn't understand how that would be offensive.

I just went back and read that. Yeah, that's definitely one of the more offensive comments I've seen on here. I'm a huge advocate for extended rear facing, but you gotta do what you gotta do. It sure as hell doesn't mean you love your DD any less. And to say someone wouldn't care if their LO died is disgusting! Also it's pretty cute to think that everyone is able to wait until every single aspect of their lives is perfectly in order in every way before considering having a child. If that was the case very few people would have kids.

  • For the record Kris, I said what I said about car seats in that thread because it seemed like it wasn't something you WANTED to do, not because I think you're a bad mom if you FF your daughter.

You know...on a scale of 1 to 100 of shitty to awesome parents, everyone here is like, at least a 75.  And once you get a passing grade, the differences between an 85 and a 90 are pretty fcuking small and meaningless.

If Blu thinks she's awesome because she's at a 96 and thinks it's worth making us 89s feel like shitty people, well, good for her.  But it's fcuking stupid.

My vagina has a very keen fashion sense!  Do you know how hard it was for me to find Li a pair of hard soled sandals in a size 3.5 that weren't Stride Rite for vacation?

I'm telling you, you should get the Dude Likes to Run shoes.

I don't like them... I have a very picky vagina.

I have a confession, one of my friends is giving me a pair of hand me down shoes for V and, wait for it...they're Keens. Oh, the shame!!

Crystal sent Li 6 pairs of Li's old shoes... clearly, she is deprived of love!

I've just purchased someone's hand me down Keens thanks to you bushes.  I should be ashamed of myself.

Peer pressure! They do look perfect for summer. (Yes, Liz. I know that they're not up your fashion alley. And yes, by "fashion alley", I mean your vagina.)

I was searching for some Doc Martens steel toe lace up boots in a size 6 so DD could kick some oct 11 moms azzes...apparantly they don't make mini shitlickers.

Liz, you are my mother fcuking hero! What an awesome Mommy, having DD wear Doc Martins!

The October 2011 police has arrived...

Can't we just all get along without completely trashing and being nasty to one other? Can we just disagree and move on?

    I love you all!

  • Yeah, I just read up on all this business. WTF? I am thinking a few pretty offensive things, but then, I have not enough time to really voice them all. Because, you know, I have two kids, who I need to rush in their development to suit my needs.

    Honestly, WTF?

  • I have nothing to add, I just felt left out for not participating.

Ovey I'm pretty sure Blu did tell her it was something she should have thought of before getting KTFU again. I'm 99 sure she said something about it being a consideration in the spacing of their kids.

And wtf is up with Packer and LJ?

Basically I said that Blu is Blu and she will say whatever she wants and she doesn't care if its offensive and LJ should block her or GBCB and not give a sh!t. LJ then said I was an evil person/vet and that she didn't like me cause her ver overcharges her? and it went on from there.

I saw that but I thought she was joking and then I was confused if you guys were for realsies or not with the fighting.
