Did/will you use graco pack n play napper/changer?

Mobile: Did/will you use graco pack n play napper/changer?

We got a pack n play that has the reversible napper/changer, which I thought would be very useful during the newborn stage as I plan for LO to sleep in our room for a little while.  Today, I was putting it together for the first time and found out the napper/changer is surface clean only!  This doesn't make much sense to me!  What if LO has a total diaper blow out in the napper?  Doesn't seem like a surface clean would ever fully clean it after that, especially since there is some padding to it.

So, my question is, did you or will you use this feature?  It also has the raised bassinet, so maybe I should just put LO here instead?  Thanks for the input!

  • I used the changer no problem. It's got a plasticky coatong on the one we have anyway, so surface cleaning isn't a big deal. We just threw a receiving blankets or something over it for changing. You could probably use a waterproof sheet saver instead. If the baby has a blowout, it's going to be apparent before you pick a changing location. So you could choose a better place to change them if necessary, like near the bathtub.

  • I really never used the changer when we did diaper changes because it was in our room and that late at night I didn't want to turn on the lights and wake up H. Any ther time it was just easier to use the one in his room

I'm really more concerned about the napper side. It doesn't seem water proof. I'm wondering if one good leaky diaper is all it's going to take for it to smell like pee forever...
  • I don't have the napper feature with mine but I rarely used the changing station.  The changer had to be removed to use the bassinet so it just seemed inconvenient and our house is small so it is easier to just go to the changing table.
  • I think my pack n play is going to just be used for travel. It is a little big for our city apartment, and I too was worried about cleaning it. I bought a fisher price rocker sleeper to use as a bassinet.

  • I didn't like the napper it kinda tilted... I used the raised position. The changer hight also killed my back at that hight... I hope you have better luck then I did. I loved it for a bassinet in my room.

  • I haven't pulled it out yet, but I'm pretty sure the newborn napper part had a removable cover that I could take off and wash. We used ours all the time since Ava didn't like lying flat in the bassinet. The newborn napper has a bit of an inclined position. So yes, we did use ours for several months. I also liked the changing station, until H accidentally leaned on it and tilted it permanently :/
