UO Thursday

I actually have one this week so I'll start.

I hate American cheese and Mayonaise / miracle whip and creamy salad dressings.

  • My UO is: posts about OWTs. I am sick of seeing them. No matter how many people it was accurate for on this board, you have a 50/50 chance of any being correct. Especially love when people claim they are more then 50% accurate! Umm, no.

    Gymboree has really ugly clothes.

For those prices, go down to baby GAP and get your kid something that's actually cute.

I think most baby/toddler clothes are disgusting. I hate having to search high and low for clothes for DD. I don't care if she has a ballerina skirt (or three) for dressup, but FFS, she does not need tulle or ruffles or glitter on her everyday playclothes. I feel like I end up paying through the nose for clothes that don't make me gag.

Agreed! They are out there, but you have to search. I figure, there is always white to get us through the first couple months.

  • It pisses me off what a big deal teachers make about snow days.  If it snows, I still have to go to work.  I don't deprive you your days off, but seriously.  Some of these teacher friends of mine post 100 posts on facebook: I think it's going to snow.  I better get a day off.  I want a snow day!  I get it.  You get snow days.  Take them when you have them.  Even rejoice when you get them, I dont' care.  But actively praying for them on facebook?  Constantly?  All winter long? Seriously?  So annoying.

I hope this isn't a UO- Just because the woman carried the baby for 9 months shouldn't mean she gets "first dibs" or that she is a good mom. Men can be awesome dad's too.  I also HATE parents that want more custody just because they can get more $$ from their ex- because you KNOW it's not going to the kids.

It's a pasturized cheese " product". It's very salty and creamy and fake.  I just can't get over the taste / texture combo.

Yeah, it really annoys me that you have to pay double just to find something that doesn't have a cutesy saying or weird animal on it.

Oh you mean like DH's ex who refuses to let DH have more time with his girls because and this is what she told her oldest, she will have to pay child support. Oh and btw XW doesn't work so yeah we KNOW that money isn't going to the kids.

I used to buy Gymboree for Dd1. At the time some of their collections were very cute and not so frilly.  I've never found a collection I like w/ dd2 from there.  I usually stick to ON, Gap and Carter's. But only Carter's outlet b/c for some reason everything I find from them at Target / JCP is just awful.

  • I don't really have one, except maybe to say I don't mind american cheese.  I prefer other kinds, like cheddar or mozzerella, but american cheese is ok for something like grilled cheese.  I don't like it plain though.

Also, about the kids clothes, I've always had good luck shopping for babies / kids clothing at Kohl's.  They usually have decent prices too, especially if you use one of their 15, 20, or 30% off coupons or have or can earn Kohl's cash.

I think people like that probably shouldn't adopt. That's tacky. Your kid or potential kid isn't a reason for a handout.

This was going to be mine today!  I think we have decided to be team green this time around (we found out with DS) and not only is it impossible to find just a few cute things, but people think we are nuts.  I don't need 6 months worth of nuetral clothes, just a few cute things for the first few weeks, is that SO much to ask?!

Oh yes! It's becoming the norm around these parts. I'm constantly seeing people sharing posts on FB about how their friend has set up a chip-in account. I understand adoption can be extremely expensive, but I don't think you should ask for hand-outs. On the other hand - I have personally seen a few cases where the couple found creative ways to raise funds without flat out asking for money. Our friends a few years back asked if we could donate old stuff to their yard sale. All the money from the sale was going towards their adoption fund. They got a ton of stuff donated and were able to raise a lot of money. I have no problem giving you my old chair/table/etc, but being asked flat out to donate money is different IMO.

I HATE people that are always late. You know, the people that joke about how they're always late because everyone knows it. For the most part I don't care what your excuse is, it doesn't take that much effort to get somewhere on time. I have a baby and am rarely late, although I will excuse lateness if you have small children. I think that perpetually late people are extremely self centered. Like my MIL. She was supposed to be here at 10am to take DS and I to the children's museum, which was all her idea. It is now 10:35 and she is no where in sight. You have no small kids and all morning to get ready. I had DS ready to walk out the door at 10am. Where the efff are you?

I've become a lot more sensitive to other people's lateness since having DD. Like, friends or family who said they're coming over for dinner at 6:30 and show up at quarter after 7. Because they don't care that we have a whole routine of bath at 7:30 and bedtime at 8, and 45 minutes is nothing to people who don't have kids, but it makes me want to tear my hair our.
