August 2013 Moms

Let's talk the Ramzi Method.

So, my babysitter and I are expecting and due a week apart from each other. . and she was telling me about the Ramzi Method to finding out the baby's gender.  I had never heard about it, so I googled it and this is what I found.

https://pregnancy.about.com/od/genderpredictions1/ss/Ramzis-Method-To-Determine-Fetal-Gender.htm

So, I pulled my u/s pics out to see if I could determine boy or girl.

I'm curious if anyone used this method and if you have had success with it?

Second, my babysitter and I were trying hard to decide. how do you know which side the placenta is on, to determine?

Its all fun, but I was just curious.

Re: Let's talk the Ramzi Method.

  • It's an OWT, and I'm sure it has a 50 percent chance of being right.

However, it was right for me.

I know.  my babysitter was convinced that it was something like 97% correct, but I had never heard of it.

  • Thanks for posting - I've been curious about this myself since I read about it.  I learned from my 6 week u/s that my placenta is on the right side (I asked since I already read about Ramzi's study) so we'll find out in a couple of weeks if it is confirmed to be a boy at the anatomy scan.

For those who can't click the link:

Placenta on right side of uterus = Boy

Placenta on left side of uterus = Girl

The study claims 97% accuracy at a 6 week ultrasound (apparently the placenta can move so it must be at the 6 week mark).

  • I think you have to ask the u/s tech which side your placenta is on. You can't tell from the picture, because you don't know at what angle the photo was taken? At least that is what I have heard.

Yep, this.  Pretty much all my printouts just show that the placenta is posterior since they are side shots.   I didn't think to ask the tech until 9 weeks and it was just to the right, but according to the theory that is too late anyway.

ETA:  whoops, it was to the left...you can see how much stock I put in it!

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929

  • i think that is why I couldn't tell on mine, because my first u/s was at 9.5 weeks.
  • I don't understand how this can work since the placenta moves??

position is only on your 6 week u/s. After that it is not supposed to be accurate.

  • My placenta is in the right and I'm having a boy!

Well that's silly not many people get one right at 6 weeks....i had one but there was nothing to see yet....

  • I had ultrasounds at 5 and 6 weeks, and the whole gestational sac was way to the right. In fact, at 5 weeks, it was so far to the right that my RE was concerned that the pregnancy was interstitial. (It wasn't, and had moved more to the center at 6 weeks.)

However, I'm team green (I think--my husband gets to decide whether we find out at the A/S) so it might be a while before I can confirm whether it's a boy.

  • I read up a little myself just out of curiosity.  For his study it was u/s performed at six weeks.  Also it was the location of the chorionic villi which you can't determine by just looking at an u/s image at six weeks.  The u/s would have to be flipped to the setting that shows blood flow.

  • It has been 100% correct for me so far. I'm 2/2 with the boys so we'll see with this one. Ramzi method said both of them were boys; however, this time it indicates girl. We'll see if it's right again later on. Hopefully I'll end up 3/3!
