does anyone know if menthol cough drops are safe?

Dr. Google is confusing the heck out of me! I have some ricolas cough suppresant/ oral anesthetic and was wondering if anyone knew if they were safe to take. The active ingredient is menthol.

I also wanted to apologize for my question about the fever being a p&r- not really a p&r more like a post and lay down and be miserable!

    I've used regular halls or the walmart brand halls for sore throats/coughs in my pregnancies.

    My doc told me that ricolas were alright when I was sick.

    I used Halls and my OB said that was safe.  I hope you feel better soon!

    The list of meds my RE gave me just says lozenges. Nothing specific, so I would think something like halls is fine.
