I cannot make this crap up... she texted me at midnight to say she had a chicken bone stuck in her throat, and wouldn't be coming into the office today, could I attend two meetings for her?
Listen, lady, you are the queen of maladies. I know that you manage to come up with some real problems now and then, but this one? Seriously? This sort of thing really happens to people?
Not for nothing, the second of the meetings I have to attend is hugely important and she really should be there. I am not really involved in the project, nor do I want to be, and yet she keeps falling ill and throwing me into the meetings. The fit is going to hit the shan in this meeting, and I don't really want to be there for it.

Re: Coworker vent
I would beat her at her own game.
"baked you some cornbread, please attend the meetings"
Seriously, is this an escalatable thing? Because I would for sure casually mention it during 1:1 with my boss to see if it is on/start getting it on the radar.
I agree with you!
She had a procedure done at the hospital around midnight last night to have the bone removed. I just got the following text:
"Feel awful. Throat sore. Not coming in."
Because, apparently, her sore throat also affects her ability to type full sentences on her phone.
This woman... is crazy. Seriously. She manipulates our boss so much about this sort of thing, throws constant pity parties for herself, and is hugely negative. She affects my morale. Our boss is aware of how ridiculous she is, but doesn't feel he can do anything about it because they are all legitimate excuses.
On the plus side, she is talking about resigning soon because she is so miserable and abused here (don't even get me started on that!).
Ridiculous!
If you don't go to the meeting for her, will that reflect poorly on you? Like if you were to answer back that you have your own meeting to go to, what would happen then?
