Vent: DH I am NOT FAT

I have always been somewhat in shape and active, and I have always wanted to have a "fit" pregnancy, but also thought if I wanted to eat some Mac N Cheese, or Thin Mints, I would do it.  I am a fan of the Jessica Simpson mentality!  We have a friend that gained 60lbs while pregnant and topped out at 200lbs.  She is about the same height and size as me (5'2 and starting around 135-140lbs)  I couldn't imagine gaining that much weight but now every morsel of food that goes into my mouth is being judged... BY MY DH!  It is making me so Angry.  To top it off I am so tired at the end of the day I can't get to the gym, and he just doesn't understand.  Finally, we have a Dr. Apt tomorrow and I told him to vent all his Fat concerns to the Doctor... Hoping she will put him in his place because I don't think he understands pregnancy hormones I am starting to want to punch him in the FACE! Just needing to vent.

Wow! Have you told your hubby how you feel?? I gained 60 lbs with my first pregnancy and topped out at 230. It was rough but it is what it is. And my hubby is a very fit person and he never said a single word. It's completely not a mans place to make comments about your weight unless its a serious concern. You need to tell him he's being a *** and only making you feel bad about yourself! Guys just don't get it. ESP with morning sickness, you really just have to eat what sounds good. Hope he stops being an ass!

Energy for being active will probably come back eventually in the 2nd trimester, so hang in there!  And remember I don't think our DH's know what we are going through, it is tough work growing a baby!  I've heard that it's almost as intense for you body right now as climbing a mountain on a daily basis!  So give yourself and break and remember that if you do gain weight you can lose it again after the baby is here.

Thanks for the support.  I don't think he is TRYING to be horrible, I think he thinks it is supportive and encouraging but it is not.  I just need to tell him to lay off like MAE208 suggested.  Just Hormonal and taking offense to everything.  Next time he says "do you really want that cookie"  I am going to say yes and so does your baby! hahaha!

I honestly think the problem is that maybe it hasn't set in completely for him yet. He knows you're pregnant, knows there's a baby, but because your stomach isn't enormous yet it truly hasn't registered. I'd sit down with him during a time where he's not being critical and just tell him how you feel, how it's hurting your feelings, and how you want to enjoy your pregnancy cravings. I think he'll understand and be better moving forward. Men aren't mind readers. Communicate your feelings.

It's a major pet peeve of mine when people talk about "fat" pregnant women . . . it's not fat - it's baby! And if your ms is anything like mine, then you need to eat when the eating is good.

I agree with the pp who said to sit down and have a conversation with DH because I cannot believe he would say things like that to you. If my DH spoke like that I'd . . . well, I'm not sure what I'd do but I wouldn't handle it well at all.

Punch your H in the face and tell him you are growing a baby and to STFU. I've already gained 9lbs and not even my OB said anything.

I just had the same argument with my husband.... I'm a mom of 2 with the 3rd on the way.  Nauseous all day and no energy to get to the gym....

I told him when he pushes out one, and has one carved out of his body via C-Section he can tell me how to run my pregnancy.... in the meantime, back off and enjoy the fact that I am creating a human in here.... :)  And pass the mac & cheese.  Carbs are the only thing that help!
