Ok, I'm a newbie with the upset stomach thing! DS woke up from his nap vomiting, diarrhea, the whole nine yards. This is his first time. We've been sitting in the bathroom now for an hour...after cleaning him up the first time, putting him in new clothes and going back into his room. Big mistake! Guess we should have stayed in the bathroom in just a diaper? Oops! I didn't have a bucket handy...is he too young to get the concept? DH and I are also each on our second round of clothes.
He seems to have stopped vomiting for now. What if he wants to eat? Do I give him a little something? My toddler bible says no water until he's been ok for an hour. I'm afraid to let him out of the bathroom....
Help! Any tips?
Re: Upset tummy
Aw man I'm sorry. That sucks for everyone. First off, you and your H should wash your hands all.the.time. and be careful when cleaning up the vomit to do your best to keep yourselves healthy.
Last time B had a vomit bug, we tried water after about 30 minutes. We used a syringe to just give him 1 ml at a time every 15 minutes for a hour. If that was okay we increased it to 2 mls and so forth. If any more vomiting occurred, we waited half and hour and scaled back how much water we were giving him at a time.
The biggest thing to watch out for is dehydration - crying without tears, no wet diapers for 8(?) hours, pinching his skin and the skin doesn't easily go back to normal shape.
I hope it's a quick bug and he feels better in soon.

I didn't really push food, just liquids. He was pretty weak for a few days, but he bounced back to 100 in about 3 days.
Now I'll be worried to leave him alone in his crib tonight. I guess he'll call for us if he gets sick again.
We're cuddling in his room watching Sesame Street now. Towel is on the chair and trash can nearby. Just in case!
Oh no, poor baby! Yes, it definitely sucks! :-(
C's thrown up quite a few times and he understands to throw up in the toilet. He'll even lean over, put his hands on the sides, throw up, flush, and then re-assure us he's okay repeatedly. If it wasn't so pitiful, it'd be almost cute.
We'll follow a similar routine to kj. You can do Pedialyte too if the water's going well. After that, try crackers, applesauce, maybe a banana? You should wait at least four hours for food though. I wouldn't worry about bed. He'll start crying if he throws up and you'll wake up. Trust me, daycare kid so been there many times already! I would remove anything from his crib that's not easily washable.
Poor baby!
I'm not sure my DS would be able to barf in a bucket. I don't even think he knows what's going on really in that moment - it just comes out. DS had a bug early December & he puked a few times overnight in his bed.
I hope the bug passes soon & you all get some rest.
