October 2011 Moms

What are you putting in the Easter basket?

We didn't do one last year for L because we were traveling but I wanted to put together a small one for this year.  Since most of our toddlers are not eating candy (I am assuming), what are you putting in there?  I need some inspirational ideas.

Re: What are you putting in the Easter basket?

  • Typing it out makes me feel cheesy but oh well. DD is getting a copy of the book The Runaway Bunny (because my mom and I used to love it when I was a kid) and a toddler sized apron similar to the one I have because she likes to "help" in the kitchen.

  • I do little toys, books, bubbles etc., kind of like the spring time version of a Christmas stocking.

  • This was E's basket last year. I bought it on sale, I added the $2 flowers and $3 moss, and got her the teether, egg, and small bunny on Etsy.

I'll be reusing the basket, the flower and even the moss if it still looks ok this year. I'm thinking of getting her a needle felted duck to go with the bunny this year, but I'm not sure beyond that. She does like those organic bunny fruit snacks, so maybe she'll get some of those. Well hide her wooden egg in the yard again and this time she can hunt for it.

  • I might just put a few "treats" in there like pouches and Annie's graham crackers. Maybe a book or something. We are thinking if buying her a little baby doll stroller because she loves the one at the playgroup.

  • Snacks, dyed eggs and jelly beans go ahead and call CPS lol. Small books, bubble thing, a swing, probably some clothes and maybe a Minnie Mouse DVD.
  • I bought her stuff today. She is getting some new crayons, dry erase markers, goldfish, a chocolate bunny that will help her eat and maybe another small thing.
  • I got this cool Eric Carle book at Costco that has a steering wheel attached.  Also bubbles, pouches, a new toothbrush, and a small box of goldfish crackers.  Good idea about the Annie's bunnies, I love those.  I'm planning on also getting some loose snacks to put in plastic eggs.  I'll probably throw in some hershey's kisses, he LOVES chocolate!

Yes, I've given him chocolate, but only a bite or two here and there.  He goes nuts for more, but I don't want to give him too much, it's just a treat.

That is a great idea! I have some markers already that I almost never use so for us a dry erase board would be great.

I am thinking of getting DS some new sun glasses and maybe some summer toys. I am also keeping an eye out for that fridge phonics thing that everyone keeps recommending. I ordered some books through Scholastic a week ago so maybe I will throw those in there. I need to quit buying him books for awhile because he has a ton of them.

  • The kids' "Easter Baskets" this year will be small backpacks. They will be filled with some Color Wonder pads, bubbles, crayons, a small windup bunny toy, a very small piece of chocolate each. I've already bought everything except a backpack for DS which I cannot find anywhere.

  • So far I have a small stuffed bunny, a book, and some finger paints. I'm thinking I will also get him a box of animal crackers, maybe one more book, and some other small toy. Like a little people car or something.
  • LBB loves the plastic eggs, so I'll probably throw a bunch of empty ones in his basket to play with.  Alphabet magnets, a new chuggington train, and I'm probably going to make some play-dough and put that in there too.

  • So far, I have a paint with water book, a play dough bucket, and some rubber duckies. I will probably get some goldfish and M&Ms for treats.

  • I don't know what I am doing this year.  We are traveling so it won't be much.  In the past I have done plastic eggs with gold fish and some Weebles. We usually do PJs too.

  • In the baskets I put a book and some little toys and a few chocolates.  They hnt for plastic eggs with money.  Violet's and Titus' will have little animal figures instead of money.
I also give them a gift.Embarrassed   Oliver is getting legos, Violet a parachute, and Audrey???

Beware of the dry erase markers, not sure if they sell "washable" dry erase markers b/c the regular ones stain and it does not come out of clothes.  I learned the hard way.  Sad

The crayola dry erase markers are washable. We had the dry erase crayons because we thought they would be less mess, but they are not. She has a thing for breaking all crayons into tiny bits, so hopefully the markers will work out better.

  • DD is getting 3 small board books (one is a "this little piggy" finger puppet book), a clifford easter book, and a peeps book.  I picked up a bunch of small things for her easter eggs, we do the plastic ones, I found some little necklaces, she loves taking the beaded ones on and off over and over and over so I picked up a few more, some stickers, some cute socks, some little bottles of bubbles, some piggy polish, a little people car, and a few other odds and ends I forgot already.  I also plan to use the Annies organic bunnies for egg fillers instead of candy, she loves the chocolate ones so she'll get those for a treat.
