how do i know when a nap is over..

stupid question, i know but my LO never naps.  was a 20 min catnapper.  so now that we are doing somethings and teaching her to soothe she is napper much longer.  for example, a 45 to a 1 1/2 naps.  this is a whole new world to me..

when do i give up on letting her try to self soothe.  i wish i knew her "length" of napping but we arent there yet.

Re: how do i know when a nap is over..

  • I know the nap is over when DS wakes up and is just staring at the ceiling or talking to himself. If he wakes up crying, the nap isn't over.

thats the same with DD also if she plays with her feet or just acts bored she is done napping

  • she wakes up crying..so i dont know if its because she wants me to soothe her or she's  done. i guess ill wait  a few minutes to see? when she catnapped she woke up more pleasant  but i was holding her
  • I usually wait at least 10 minutes to go get him, even if I think he's really awake. That way if there is some slim chance he'll fall back asleep he can do that or he'll have a few minutes to wake up quietly.
