Hi guys! Just popping my head in...so little time to Bump these days with my 6day work week, but I love seeing everyone's pics on Instagram.
Today I'm home with L because her day care told me she couldn't come in. This is the fourth time she's stayed home in 2 weeks. The first time she had a fever during the night so I opted to stay home with her because she obviously wasn't well. By noon she was fine again so we put it down to teething, but her DCP told me should stay home another day. Fine, I took another day off. A week passed and she had one diarrhea diaper while at day care. They called my school to say I should come pick her up because she might have something contagious. I couldn't run out and leave my class but luckily my MIL was available and went to get her. L was all smiles and full of energy, and a trip to the pedi confirmed she had a stomach bug but it wasn't Rota or Noro. The next day I took her back to day care with medicine from the doctor and a note.
According to their reports in her notebook she's been full of energy all week, but yesterday when I went to get her the director took me aside and told me L definitely has Noro or Rotavirus because the diarrhea has continued over 3 days, the doctor has given me the wrong medicine, other parents ie. good parents? would keep their sick child home...a whole big guilt trip. So today we went back to the pedi with stool samples and she again confirmed that L has a noncontagious stubborn upset tummy and she thought one big slightly watery poop a day was totally forgivable...her exact words. My principal was NOT happy that I called in for the third time, and now I'm worried that the next time L is really sick I'll have trouble getting time off.
Would you be pissed at the DCP? I'm feeling half indignance and half guilt over the things they said to me.
Re: Getting fed up with day care
Same. And what's with the guilt trip?! What an audecity!
This, (and the teachers, too!) and our provider's rules are exactly the same as those of the school district in an effort to be fair.
Do you have some other kind of backup you could arrange? Taking time off is so hard. We had to cover three full days this week and it was a lot of juggling.
