  • QOTD: I'm a decorative painter. I have to keep working bc we are a two-income household. We have enough savings for me to take a few mo off right before and after birth, but then I'll go back to work.?

The downside of my career is no paid maternity leave or other PTO.

The upside is that I make my own hours and sometimes even work at home, so I have a lot of flexibility and will only have to arrange for PT child care while maintaining my regular income level.

My stepmom does the same thing for a living and has two kids, so she's going to be my mentor through the whole pg/baby/work experience. :)?

  • Wednesday QOTD: What do you do for a living? Will you continue working after the baby is born?

well, I am a computer analyst...which means I am a desktop technician. I work on people's computers. My DH works with his mom in a family business, and it is doing well, but he is not making the money that we want yet. So, I am the 'bread winner' in the family at the moment, and have to go back to work when the baby is born. I dont mind, I love my job.

I am lucky though in that my parents live next door to us (we live next to them, I should say) and my mom will be my daycare.

  • I am a SAHM, but also work 10 hours a week as a Assistant to the Chaplain at our county jail.  And for sure will I keep my job.... I will need the break!

  • QOTD: I work as a design consultant for a company that makes custom souvenir gifts, kinda fun actually! We haven't decided yet if I will continue working. part of me would like to, but part of me would like to stay home with Baby S. So we'll see Smile

Only 6 days until my 1st appt!

  • Hi! My EDD is August 18, 2009! Which is really awesome for us since DH's birthday is 8/16 and mine is 8/29!
  • Good morning!

Can you please take me off the August list? My OB changed my EDD to July 19th. Thanks for all your work!?

  • I am currently a Research Coordinator for a hospital as well as a Behavioral Specialist for Early Intervention- birth to age 3 (work with kids with developmental delays- esp. Autism).  I don't like my job as a Research Coordinator and I am planning on leaving in the summer, right before the baby is born- I will take a few months off most likely (if I can afford to) and then go back probably as a Part-Time Behavioral Specialist- around 20 hours a week most likely.  I am also in graduate school to become a licensed School Psychologist and unfortunately have 2 1/2 more years of that. (Hopefully the baby will be on time, so I can start my fall semester on time!) Thankfully the program is designed around working individuals so it is only 1 night a week for 6 hours.  It is important to me to cut down on the work hours because I am in school (and will be beginning a practicum where I go to schools)- I want to be able to enjoy our baby and get to spend time with him/her- I know I will regret it later if I don't.  If I need to, I will reassess next fall and see where we stand financially- may have to work full time.  Hopefully, I won't have to work full time until after I am out of school, and by then, I would want to put my child in a preschool anyway to enhance social skills and get him/her ready for school.
  • Could you please remove me from this group.  I found out some bad news yesterday.  Our little embryo did not implant in my uterus.  My doctor believes that it was a fluke thing and gave us the go ahead to try again right away.  I'm sure I will be back soon.

I hope all of you ladies have a happy and healthy pregnancy!

  • I work for the local governemnt in Public Health.  I will go back to work, but will work an adjusted schedule to do 2 10s, 2 8s and 4 hours from home.

My H will go part time, since he owns his business and it is way more flexible.  We hope to do child care 2 days a week.

I still feel like our first appt is forever and a day away - 12/31.

  • I am a writer for the marketing department of a software company. I do plan to return to work after the baby is born. I have flex time so I can actually rearrange my hours so DH and I can share daycare drop-off/pick-up responsibilities and the baby won't be at daycare more than 8 hours.
  • Hey ladies :)  I work in the accounting/payroll dept for a gov't contractor.  I love my job and plan on returning after I have this child.  I plan on taking 7-8 weeks for maternity leave but may end up working some hours here and there during it and I will just comp my time.  My boss is more then understanding and flexible with my schedule so I know I have the ability to work from home occassionally and whatnot, if needed, before and after the baby comes.

Other then that I am cautiously awaiting some true m/s :/  I have had nausea on and off and some food aversions but nothing horrible yet.

  • I'm a nurse and would love to go back to work part time, but my student loan debt, mortgage and DH will not allow that to become a reality.  However, I may be able to adjust my hours, but will give it a few months before I start asking the boss.

  • Good morning!

I'm feeling good today. I have to work this eveing (I waitress a few nights a week to get out of the house) and I'm actually looking forward to it! Hope I make decent $$ tonight!

Wednesday QOTD: What do you do for a living? Will you continue working after the baby is born?

I am currently a SAHM. I have my teaching certifcate but teaching jobs here in MI are EXTREMELY hard to come by. While I was pg with DS I waitressed and subbed FT but DH and I decided that it would be better if I just stayed home FT instead of paying for daycare. DH is a police officer (DARE).

When our children are old enough to go to school I'd really like to get back to teaching.

ETA: Forgot - TY for fixing my name =D

  • Hi ladies.  Anyone else really feeling sick?  It seems a little early to feel as bad as I do.  Luckily a lot of the people in my office have been calling in sick so no one is questioning why I don't feel well.  I must just have the bug that's going around... Wink

QOTD: I work in Recreational Sports at a major public university.  My pay and benefits are too good to quit working after the baby so we are thinking that DH might be a SAHD.  We have enough saved up for me to take 3 months off but after that it'll be back to work for me.

  • Please add me!  August 16th due date. Big Smile

I am a secretary and yes I plan on working after the baby is born.  Hopefully I will be able to take 4-5 months off before going back though.

  • I work in financial aid at a state college. I will continue to work here after the baby is born and I hope to stay within this system for the rest of my career that way all of my kids will get a free college education Smile
  • you can add me on - edd 8/18

we are not sure if i will be working post delivery, and i think it's going to take us awhile to decide. i think we could make it work, but we really do enjoy having the two salaries. i might try and work out a part time/work from home/freelance thing.

  • I do medical billing/coding for a cardiac cath lab. I only work 35 hours a week right now. I would like to stay home but would also like to have the extra money my income gives us. DH has a very good job but it's nice to have my "play money" as well. I will definitely want to go part time. Maybe 3 days a week?? Not sure yet. I am feeling really good today. I will be tired by the end of the day like always. I am still waiting for my appointment which isn't until Jan 13.
  • I currently work as a medical records specialist but I'm also a grad. school student working towards my Masters in Information Science. So, I plan to work where I am until I have the baby then since I'll be graduated by then, look for a job in the information science field. It's good timing for us right now.

  • Hi - please add me, I'm Aug. 8. Thanks!

I work in public relations for a nonprofit institution. As far as I know my leave will be three months and then it will be back to work for me, likely full time. We live in a very expensive area and even though we own a modest home (a condo) and inexpensive cars it would be extremely, extremely tight for DH to support us on his salary alone, unless he gets a major raise which is unlikely in this economy. I would love to go part time (even 4 days would be better than 5) but I think it's unlikely. Aside from finances, the problem with not coming back would be that contacts are critical in my industry so "dropping out" for two years would make it extremely difficult to get back in. We recently found out our neighbor is 3-plus months pregnant and I'd like to speak with them about possibly doing a nanny-share, but DH doesn't want to say anything to them yet since I'm only 5 weeks.

  • Hi! Can you add me to August 5th?

I work as a nurse practitioner and will definitely be going back to work. As DH likes to say, I am his sugar momma! Would love to be able to take 12 weeks.

  • I'm feeling great. Tired, but that's about it.

I work in private aviation. I will definitely work after the baby is born. I'll have 10 weeks paid maternity, but will get right back to the grindstone after that.

  • Can you please add me to August 17th?  Just went for my 2nd bloodwork hoping for some doubling...Hcg was 303 on Monday.  PLEASE STICK!

I am in sales and will most likely return to work.

    Thanks!

  • Good Morning Ladies.

    Hope everyone is feeling good.

I am a scanning technician with the State Engineers Dept. for the State of Wyoming. Basically I scan microfilm, documents and maps all day so that some day the dept. will be all electronic.

I will be a stay at home mom. My husband and I decided that once I have a baby it would be great if I could be at home with him or her all day. I am excited, but it feels a little weird to eventually not be going to a job every day. I am sure it will take some adjusting.

  • QOTD: I am a paralegal, and unfortunately I will have to be a working mom, since DH doesn't make enough to support a family on his own.  I really wish we could work something out before then, but we'll see.

Today was my first appointment.  They moved my EDD to 8/2 from thebump's 8/3, so no biggie on that.  They are doing a dating ultrasound next week just to be sure, since I hadn't been regular while going off the pill.

  • I teach first grade.  Will not return to work for at least a year.
  • You can add me! Yay! Looks like my due date is August 16th (at least for now)!  Having another beta tomorrow, and I am so nervous. PG symptoms have already started, which is making me feel much better. I'm exhausted all the time, sleeping like crap, my boobs are swollen and so sore, and I'm pretty much queesy all day! Bring it on! Big Smile

QOTD: I am a nurse in a pediatric office. I will still work after the baby comes, although I'd love to be able to stay at home. My DH is a sub-contractor, so I have to work to keep health insurance.  I'll probably only work 24 hrs. a weeks though.

  • Had my "confirmation" blood test done last week.  The receptionist at my doctor's office called me last night and said that the dr. wants me to re-take the blood test and to come pick up the order when I can.  The doctor wasn't there to talk to me at the time.  At my first appointment she did tell me that if my hormone levels were low she would need me to re-test.  But couldn't they at least confirm my pregnancy?  I'm gonna call the office today and ask to speak directly to her before I go pick up the order to take the test.  Should I be worried?  Has this happened to anyone else?

  • I'm a speech-language therapist and I will most definitely be working after I have the baby.  Not sure how long I'm going to take off work for maternity leave; hopefully at least 4 months (preferrably 6 months or more lol).

  • I'm a new August mommy too!  DC #2 should be here 8/15/09 by my calculations :)  I have no idea if I'm extra tired since my 14.5 mos handles that for sure.  Had some cramping yesterday but it has since subsided.

QOTD - I've been a SAHM since 9/24/2007.  Used to work in banking and don't miss it one bit!

  • I was late on this today!

I'm a graphic designer / marketing coordinator. I was just offered last week the position of marketing manager in the new year. I came clean and let them know I was pg, but the owner of the company is fine with it (I'll be replacing my current boss).

That being said, I'm not sure if I'll be returning to work. I don't want to, I would love to be a stay at home mom, and be able to have a hot meal waiting for DH when he gets home from work. It will all depend on money though, and if I can find maybe a part time job I could do from home. We'll see.

  • I'm a new August mommy too! My EDD is August 8th!

I'm a social worker for the homeless and I love it. I will not be leaving my job. It's super flexible and I work from home a ton and I just love my job and feel very fulfilled with my position. I've already started contacting nannies and babysitters.

  • Wednesday QOTD: What do you do for a living? Will you continue working after the baby is born?

Hi ladies!   I'm an elementary school teacher, and I will finish up this school year but take a break at the beginning of next year.  This works out well anyway because DH and I are moving out of state, so I'd be moving into a new school anyway!  The district we're moving too is very helpful, and I'll be able to find a classroom easily in the fall!  They also have childcare for teachers...so the little one can come to work with me!!!

  • QOTD: I am a consultant that work onsite advising on transportation.  My company offer's 6 weeks and after that I am back to work.  DH's work does not offer insurance.
  • Good Morning Ladies! I work at a church within the children's department. I currently work full time but I am also able to work at home for some of those hours. So I am hoping that once this baby is born that I will be able to work part-time in the office and part-time at home. My in-laws and brother & sister-in-law all live down the street, so I'm sure we'll be utilizing them for some child care :)

In updated news, I started vomitting last night - which is no fun, but I feel great this morning, just tired. My appointment is this upcoming Monday and I am super excited. We are also planning on telling our parents this Friday because my mom will be in town - she is going to flip (in a good way).

  • Can you please add me? I am due August 8th. Our first ultrasound is on Friday!

QOTD: I am an executive assistant. I will work part-time when the baby comes. I am going to job share with a co-worker that just recently had a baby.

  • Hi All -

I am feeling pretty good today - just extremely tired.  We have our first appointment one week from tomorrow and I am so excited!

QOTD - I work in Finance for a large public retail company.  The pay is very good but I am not that happy doing it and hope to be a SAHM.  That was the original plan, but now with the economy in such a bad spot, we may need to revisit.  I guess we have about eight more months to think about it!

  • QOTD: I work part-time in retail and go to school full-time. I will take some time off work (undecided how much) but don't plan to miss any school since the baby will arrive in the summer while I'm on break.

Still counting down to my first appointment....21 days left!
