stressed!

After moving back to NJ from AZ I was unable to secure a full-time teaching position. I've been subbing for so long now and the money is just not cutting it. Who ever has the *perfect* scenario when thinking about starting a family? I know, I know...but it sucks.  I wanted to wait until I was employed full-time with a great salary & benefits but, to quote one of my favorite all time movies, "My biological clock was tickin' like this!"  Hmmm, wait for a full-time gig or make a baby? My OB told me not to wait bc of my age...so here we are.  I know we took this on but I'm just really stressed about it. To top it off, I think we'll need to get a different car. My 2-door Honda Accord Coupe, while cute, is just not logical for a car seat. DH has a Prius but I think I need to trade mine in. Ugh, more $$ out the door! Thanks for letting me vent <:(

Sorry its so stressful.  As far as the car it might not be the best time unless you can find something cheaper right now.  You can make do with a 2 door, just not as conveniently.  You said you didn't wait for benefits, does that mean you don't have insurance?  Take the time now to save and prepare as much as possible, not much else to do.  Stressing isn't good for you or the baby.  I hope things turn around on the job front soon!

Listen to ShellBear, she is wise. Yes I would hold off on the car if at all possible. A two-door is not as convenient, true, but it will get you and the baby from Point A to Point B. Sorry things are rough for you, and I hope something great will come your way very soon.

OMG, I'm totally on your bandwagon!!!

I started stressing about the option of getting pregnant 2 years ago and it got worse and worse at time progressed. Finally I decided to go for it because how could I know if I'd be one of those women that took 2 years to conceive??? But it only took me two months YAY. However, I've been out of work for years, no medical, nothing at all. Right before we found out we're pregnant we updated our car to an SUV that guzzles gas something fierce and sops up an entire paycheck each month. It really sets us behind with preparing for baby. BUT, we think the car is very important for the sake of the baby so we don't want to trade back down or give it up. Between room for a car seat and the vehicle's safety ratings we think it's a good investment.

It would be so helpful to get back to work. But in this economy who's going to hire someone walking in with a need for maternity leave? Plus, I would rather be home with my new baby.

It's really difficult to look at the bright side sometimes but at the same time I'm left asking myself what the lesser of the two evils is and weighing my pros and cons. I managed to get some medical so since money is the only factor contributing to my misery I've decided that being the one to raise my child is more important to me. It'll be hard but it can be done.

I wish you luck in all this!

thank you so much for your input...i was just getting tired of not being excited about this pregnancy. between worrying about my "advanced maternal age", being semi-unemployed, needing a different vehicle & saving for a baby...i'm nearing the end of my rope! hopefully all will work out for us all.  GL w your pregnancy and hope to see you more on the board :)
