I am 32 weeks pregnant and I have been having this horrible pain in my lower stomach and hips. It makes it to wear I can't walk, roll over in the bed or even sit up.. It is very uncomfortable. I was told it might be something called rounding ligaments? I am not sure what it is! I am 20 and was looking for some input!! Thank you!!
Re: Curious About Pain?
Hi Brittany! I am somewhat happy (and sad) to let you know that I had the exact same thing. It would be so bad some mornings that I would not be able to lay down in bed, or sit in a chair without wanting to cry.
You could have one or two things, of course only a doctor can really tell you what is going on. The first is indeed round ligament pain. This usually starts much earlier, and ends around the 26th week of pregnancy. I am not sure how much research you did on this particular ailement, but it is due to your body producing too much relaxant which causes your round ligament (which holds your uterus in place) to relax. The pressure of the uterus on your pelvis can be very painful.
The other possibillity is Pubic Symphasis Dysplasia (PSD). This is where the bone of your Pubic Symphasis begins to separate more than what is required to be able to deliver your baby.
There isn't a whole lot that is able to be done for these, I was told I just have to pretty much grin and bear it, and it would all be over soon. I did find that sometimes taking a warm bath before bed, some Tylenol PM (again check with your dr, mine said it was ok for me) and a Pelvic Girdlle helped me get a few more hours of sleep. For the day when I am up and wallking around I use the Baby Hugger (you can google it to find out how to purchase it. $30-50 will sure save you some headache in the long run). The baby hugger really took the pressure off of my pelvis and allowed me to walk further, longer. Now that I am 36 weeks, I use it just about every day that I am up to keep the extra weight off. I am almost to the point where I can sleep on my side again!
I really hope that something in here helps you, but regardless just remember that you are almost to the end!
Best wishes!

Thank You for the information! I have IBS previous to being pregnant so I have had some issues in that area. I have taking fiber pills and my iron is in my prenatals. But the pills seem to work to a point. I just stay sore around the clock pretty much. I have two doctors appointments this week so I will most definitely be mentioning it to my doctor! Once again thank you!!
Thank you so much! That was very helpful! I will be writing down both of the things that you mention and talking to my doctor this week and seeing what they say! I am high risk so I dont want to let anything go unnoticed or unmentioned to my doctors because it makes me very nervous!! I will look into the bands that you mentioned. & I did try a warm bath last night before bed and it seemed to help me rest. Thank you for all your information!! I really appreciate it!
