At 9:53 this morning, Anderson was born. He was 8 lbs 4 oz and 20 inches long.
Unfortunately, he was very stubborn and didn't want to come out. Once we got him out, he had some fluid in lungs (active labor helps trigger the lungs to expel the fluid) and his sugars dipped just a tad, so they took him to continuing care (not NICU, but kind of an inbetween where the baby is observed, but not hooked to tons of machines, etc.). Neither of us have yet to hold him nearly 4 hours later (we will shortly) because of tests and IVs administered, I got to see him though and he's awesome. The doctors said he's doing great, just needs observation and a little IV fluids.
My wife and I were able to hold him right around 2, so he was about 5 hours old... his sugars corrected themselves and his oxygen saturation level was much better, he was just needing to work that last little bit of fluid out, which it seems like they may have done. They laid him on his tummy for a bit and it doesn't seem like he's made the straining noise much, if at all, since. That *should* mean that he gets to leave the CCN and stay with us for the duration of our stay here. He even got to take a field trip out of the CCN into our room for a short bit to meet his big brother and his grandparents.
Re: He's here! (PIP added)
Great news, and a good sized boy to boot!!!
Hope you guys get to hold him soon. I'm sure it will be soon!!!
Congrats!
Glad to hear he's doing great! A lot of new babies make a quick stop in the NICU or continuing care before you get to hold them.
They're so tiny when they are born!
