I had a whole bunch of "Normal" girl names picked out and my husband comes to me with Genesis, Celeste and Moira. Ok, I like Moira but really how well would Genesis or Celeste go over as an adult trying to get a job?

Yes, where did you meet this Genesis? Honestly, if you would have asked me to match the names with the occupations, I would have picked these. Celeste sounds very classy, Moira too but a bit more down to earth, and Genesis... don't go there.

Celeste was on my list, DH vetoed it. I think it will age very well.

Celeste is great and Moira isn't bad at all. I would veto Genesis, ASAP. Stick out tongue

That said, I think you should both love the name, so if these don't feel right to you, keep looking for something that captures both your styles.

Celeste is my middle name. It's actually an older name. I wouldn't ever side-eye someone with it as a first name.

I'm not a fan of Genesis! But I like Moira. And I actually love Celeste! Celeste is pretty "normal" to me, and I think it's very pretty.

ETA: I agree with pp that Moira is a bit too close/matchy to big sis Keira, in my opinion.

I wanted to add that if you don't really like these names then DH needs to drop them. It goes the other way too. If you have suggested something he doesn't care for then put it aside.

You should both feel comfortable and like the names you are choosing.

Just out of curiosity what does your list for girls look like? Does your DH like any of them?

I think Kiera and Grayson are cute by the way. Smile

The two other names on the short list were Victoria, Piper and Calista. Piper was nixed because I have a friend with a little girl the same age as my son named Piper. Calista didn't make the cut because DH like other names better.

I definitely think Celeste is a beautiful classy name that works extremely well into adulthood. I don't get how you think otherwise.

But I do have a confession....the only Celeste I know is a reality TV actress and a high price hooker, haha. But for some reason, she didn't tarnish my image of the name. I think it is beautiful.

Thanks ladies for all your input. I agree that Celeste is a very pretty name and am happy to see how well received it is. My only question now is I want to use Dawn for the MN in honor of my sister who passed away and I am not sure how well Celeste Dawn sounds. I kind of feel that Moira Dawn sounds better. What do you think: Moira/Celeste/Victoria Dawn? TIA
