NWMR: Care package

I have a girlfriend who lives out of state. She just returned back FT to work a few weeks ago. Is still adjusting to everything. Now, her son who is almost 3 months old came down with RSV and is in the hospital. I want to send a care package to her, her DH and DS. Any ideas? I am trying to look at Pinterst for ideas, but thought I would check here.

TIA!

Re: NWMR: Care package

  • Could you send her a restaurant gift certificate or meal delivery service?

A package with snacks and books/magazines to keep busy in the hospital? RSV is terrible - poor things.

  • Gift card to restaurants is a must.  I can't imagine they are doing anything but eating out.  A couple of magazines like people or us weekly, nothin like a quick read of fluff news.  A taggie blanket for baby.  Muffins and some vitamin water for snacks.  Granola bars.  A pretty journal with a pen in case she needs to write something down or keep a journal.

I hope your friends baby gets better soon.  It must be ver scary.

  • A velcro envelope from an office supply store, for keeping prescriptions, discharge instructions, etc.

Magazines.  Fluffy socks (hospitals get crazy-cold) or slippers.  Healthy snacks (nuts, dried fruit).  Dry shampoo.  Face wipes to freshen up.

All of these!  Also some gift cards for restaurants and take-out places near the hospital or their house.  Maybe a little stuffed shakey rattle for the baby?

  • We had people send packages like that when my son was in the hospital. By the time we got them, we were out of the hospital and didn't need hospital snacks. And people sent cheese, which we ended up throwing out because we didn't know how long and in what conditions the package was stored during shipping. DS got a lot of toys too, which he enjoyed, but weren't really necessary. Honestly, the best gifts we got were cards or notes that let us know people were thinking of us, and gift cards to restaurants with delivery or takeout.
