High-Risk Pregnancy

insulin and midnight snacking?

so i just started on insulin last night and my doctor told me no more midnight snacks, this made fairly depressed, as i am having a really tough pregnancy, the one thing that makes it better is my alone time in the middle of the night, when everyone is sleeping but me and i watch tv and have a snack.

do you guys have a snack still and if so what?

  • I only do if my sugar is really low which doesn't happen as much now that I'm pregnant.  But when it is low I could easily clean out the fridge in a matter of minutes.  Big Smile

  • I always have a snack when I take my insulin around 9pm. Right now I have Totinos Pizza rolls  and a handful of almonds every night. Terrible, I know, but I'm losing weight and they keep my fasting numbers good. Plus they're so tasty! I had a different snack the other night and my numbers were high in the morning, so I'm sticking by my pizza rolls!

  • You can still have anything free of carbs/sugar (I know not as exciting). Pretty much any veggies, cheese, an omelete, sugar free jello etc.

If you can get away with a little bit of carbs you can try popcorn...you get a decent size bowl full for about 15carbs.
