DD hates me at night :/

DD has been waking up again during the night. Those darn teeth are really giving her a hard time.

Whenever she wakes up she wants her daddy. She wants absolutely nothing to do with me. I mean she's screaming and crying and pushing me away and reaching out for her dad.

I have to admit it hurts. :( I feel terrible when my baby pushes me away and screams even if I try to get near :( Even though I can go back to bed and at least lay down even if I'm not sleeping while poor DH has to deal with her. She's fussy with him, too but wants to actually snuggle up on him and he'll get her to go back down.

But one thing that is so sweet about this: My DH just totally lights up when he sees that DD wants her daddy and nobody else. I guess it's his turn to feel so needed. He couldn't do that much when DD was little and still BFing, now it's a different story so I do enjoy that part. He's so proud when he walks in the room, I say "she wants you" and she quiets down as soon as he takes her.

But, still a slightly hurt mama over here

Anybody else? :/

  • Well DD#2 is still breastfeeding so when she wakes at night she thrashes around and gets majorly pissed if I don't go get her.

BUT DD#1 (she's 2 1/2) asks for her daddy all the time and shoves me away at night sometimes. It happens!

I honestly wish I had even a little bit of this issue.  DS hasn't woken up in the middle of the night in forever, but when he does, he will ONLY tolerate me.  He screams bloody murder if DH tries to calm him.

Also, we are neck-deep in teething hell as well.  Molars are serious bastards.  Have you tried giving her some Motrin/Advil before bed.  It has helped DS a ton in staying asleep.  We give it to him immediately before bed so by the time it's really kicking in, he's sleeping and won't usually wake up in the middle of the night.

I hear you, it's tough when either scenario is so one-sided. DD wakes up almost every night so it sucks that every night she pushes me away. But that shall pass, too.

And ya, we have tried tylenol and advil before bed time, that may help in her not waking up at the around 1 am but she will stay asleep until about 4.00. So that's definitely better but doesn't work every time either. It's a combo of teething and her going back to simply being used to waking up around 1am (that seems to be routine almost)

  • DS changes it up all the time.  Some nights, he wants me; other nights, he wants DH.  Sometimes, he wants both of us and doesn't know how to get us at the same time--that is when we settle for group hugs (sandwiches in our family).

    Love it!! :)
