Re: Anemic BOOOO!

  • I have been taking iron the whole time and still am anemic.  I doubled my iron dose and will find out next week if my iron looks better.  It certainly doesn't help with the normal pregnancy exhaustion and dizziness.

  • Was anemic for my first two, don't know about this one yet.  Try slow fe.
  • I'm in the same boat. I was severely anemic with my first, and so far only mildly this time. Eating lots of spinach and forcing myself to eat red meat.

  • Do you have a cast iron skillet? Also, add a vitamin c rich element to your meals, like tomatoes which will help with absorption.

  • Slow release iron pill taken with a glass of OJ. Do not take your iron pill at the same time as your prenatal vitamins.
...that's what the OBs office told me.
  • Why did they say that? This was not told to me, I take all my vitamens at night, but have to take iron in AM and PM per OB...so I really dont have a choice.

This is me. I have anemic for most of my teen/adult life. My body just does not like iron. I actually had to get prescription chelated iron to help with absorption.

  • Try a liquid if you can stomach it. I was terribly constipated until I switched. I'm Canadian and the brand I take is Salus Floravit.
  • I have the same issue. Dr said I was slightly anemic. They suggested I take ferro sequels with a glass of orange juice at a different time than the prenatal. This pill has a softener in it so you don't have to take a seperate pill for constipation.
  • Time to load up on stool softeners and benefiber. I was worried i might be anemic so i was taking iron in addition to my prenatal with Docs permission. Test results came back that i wasnt which is good cuz the iron i was taking... I didnt poo for a week and whn i finally did it was a real pain in the butt heh
