So DH's sister is getting married March 9 at 5:30 pm. Its not going to be casual but not super formal either. All of my nicer dresses are more for warmer weather so I'm shopping for a new dress to wear. Around here March could be 70 degrees or it could have snow on the ground & could change in 24 hours.
So anyway, do y'all think this dress is dressy enough for an early evening wedding? It's at Dress Barn but I've never tried it on. Honest opinions are needed. Does it look age appropriate (I'm 30) or does it look older? Am I over thinking this?

Ok here's my next question. All of my black heels are summery. Would this dress look ok with black high heel boots or do I need to buy some pumps? sigh. I hate shopping.
For reading all of that here's a yummy chocolate cake

Re: opinions on what to wear to a wedding
ETA: I agree with kklamb on the print pumps.

There are no bridesmaids & she really doesn't have a specific color. The place she's getting married at is doing everything (decor, cake, flowers). She won't have a problem with the black (DH's memaw might but oh well lol)
I think I'm with you on the boots. I didn't even think of doing a different heel though. I think that would be awesome especially if I can find a matching necklace or something.

The boots are pretty simple but now I'm getting excited about some cute pumps!

Oooh those are cute! I like the second ones better but I would probably wear the first ones more. And I like the price of the target ones (because I'm tight. DH tells me I could squeeze a penney & pop out a dime lol)

I agree with PP....some fun heels! Maybe red or blue? I even have a pair of yellow in between mustard and standard yellow from Nine West, and they are precious. Good luck!
I think the dress is really cute. I would use accessories to make it stand out though. I'd probably pair this all with silver. Also, I'd really go for a flashy shoe. Something like this would look awesome

I love the dress; it's very simple but you can easily make it dressier with the right shoes and jewelry. I agree that fun colored pumps would look awesome with it, but I would also add either a statement necklace or a fun chunky/blingy bracelet. EITHER, not both... don't overdo the jewelry otherwise you'll just look like you're trying to hard.
Something like this:
Or this:
Or one of these bracelets:
The images all link to their description/price on Piperlime. You can buy similar stuff anywhere I just went there to get some ideas for you. Or if you want to be more understated you could do simple earrings instead. But I do think you need *something* so it says "fancy" and not "going to work"
Obviously your choice of color depends on what color shoes you wear (I'd suggest not being too matchy though - you can always just do shades of black/grey, or silver or gold if your shoes are very bright and you don't feel comfortable playing with too much color)
And I agree with PP who said black for a wedding is fine... every wedding I've been to in the past 10 years more than half the guests are wearing black. As long as you're not wearing white or something too similar to a white dress you're good.
Hope this helps.
