Couldn't really find an appropriate board to post in, but since I'm 2nd tri, here goes...
Obviously since this is our third we have a great deal of baby stuff already. So car seat, high chair, tub, breast pump, and big things like that are covered. We have a boy and girl already, so for the *most* part clothes are covered. I will get a new outfit for this team green baby to come home in and a few new onesies and such.
I'm making a list of "new" things I will need for this baby. With #2, I completely forgot to buy diapers! LOL Can you think of anything to add to my list?
Nursing pads, breastmilk bags, diaper genie (threw out old one), maybe new tubing for pump, new nipples and pacis, wipes, diapers.
Thanks!
Re: What to buy for a third baby?
How old are your other kids?
Are you going to want to up your linen stash? Burp cloths (prefold/flat cloth diapers work the best in my experience and are cheapest), baby towels, wash cloths, sheets, light weight blankets etc.
We'll be getting DS his own sound machine (we used the cloud b giraffe for DD so we'll get the sheep for DS), playskool glow worm, FP soothe and glow seahorse etc. because DD won't be ready to part with hers.
ETA: Ignore my first Q, I was stupid and didn't even look at your tickers.
I might get new crib bedding, not sure. I had a foam changing pad I'll need to replace. My kids 6 and 4 found and essentially destroyed our mini baby swing before we realized we wanted 3, I let them play w it, so will need a new swing, and/or infant seat. I'm updating my sling/ carrier, I think, to an ergo. I have a Bjorn, but don't want it this go round. I also need a new stroller, we had a cheap one and it got trashed too. Oh and a new car! So it does seen like we have a decent list.
I was so happy to read your post...We are in the exact same situation as you. We also have a boy and a girl almost the exact same ages as your little ones. And, we are team green as well!!!!
Along with a few of the suggestions you made, I also plan on new bottles, new towels (just a few), and just one pack of new burp cloths. I'm think that I want to get these thing to be gender specific (pink or blue bottles and towels) as this is our last little one. So, I think that I'm going to wait to see what we have and then either make a quick trip to BRU or send my parents out when the baby gets here.
I'm going to wash all of our boy and girl newborn clothes so that I can keep what we need, save special outfits and sell/give away the rest. We can use the space in the attic, so I might as well do it all at once.
Look forward to reading other responses...feel free to get in touch if you think of any other Baby #3 questions and I'll do the same!!!
I'd get fresh crib sheets, bath towels, socks, hats; stuff like that. New tubing for the breast pump is a good idea, maybe new membranes as well since the milk touches them.
I'd also recommend getting this baby his/her own special blanket since so many other things will be hand me downs (and there's NOTHING wrong with hand me downs!!)
Yes lalamakita, the biggest purchase will be the dreaded minivan...lol!
dbraccio, I went through my newborn clothes a few months ago when I had a new niece and was shocked at how many stains have "appeared" since storing them...I hate how spit up stains reappear! Yes let's definitely keep in touch. This is definitely our last little one too. When are you due?
With #2 we were also team green-so I brought a pink and blue outfit to the hospital (and then regifted the blue outfit to a friend's newborn later). Aside from plain white onesies, I waited to buy clothes and then went out after the birth to get the gender specific items. I also bought a few new blankets and burp cloths for #2 so I'll look at them and reassess.
I'm a huge recycler of baby things so I'm trying to get by with what I have, however faded or old they are! The downside of being the third child I guess!
Thanks Sadie! I was so fortunate with #2 because the new baby gifts from family and friends were outfits and blankets. It was things the baby needed and not hand me downs. I still have some "new" things that weren't the right size/weather for the first kids so hopefully they will be put to use too.
I definitely need to overhaul my entire baby stash before and after this baby comes. Can I say I'm really looking forward to getting rid of half of my stored baby items once we know the gender for sure?
No no no! LOL! I always see this mentioned, and I have never understood it. Do you get out of the shower and dry your body with cloth diaper material? NO!
Terry cloth my friends, terry cloth!
You can get terry cloth shop towels (sometimes called bar cloths) at any kind of Walamrt, Sam's, or home improvement place, and they are way cheaper and more absorbent than the cloth diapers people recommend as burp cloths.
I can imagine! We already have three tubs of clothes Olivia has outgrown. I have no problem putting a boy in pink pajamas but my luck I'll have a boy next in a completely different season so I can't reuse anything at all.
Cloth diapers need to be washed a few times before they get soft and absorbent, but I think they are way better than shop towels.
We are in the same boat! (ignore tickers, I have a 4 and 2 year old)
I just made a registry for 2 reasons, one for me to keep tract of what I need and 2 for coupons!
I need new paci's, nipples and bottle liners for our bottles, new burp cloths, tons of nursing supplies for me (bags, pages, cream etc) , baby book for this baby and new sippy's when the time comes. Baby #2 has destroyed the cups!
I totally hear you on how you store your clothes all nice and clean and they come out stained! Totally made me sad. I have tried to share clothes with friends and they are ruined. Someone told me to try dreft stain remover
We are also thinking of new minivan, but for now I think it will be 2 radian carseats for our big kids and the old baby car seat which will expire when this baby is 6 months.
Ah, new baby book! Thanks!
Maybe I should start working on the first two baby books...ha ha!
I am expecting a number 3 (a girl) after 2 boys.
We'll need a new car.....
))))))) And I need to get some clothes and a special Teddy for her (each of our kids have a special Teddy they sleep with and love dearly). Maybe I'll buy girly sheets. Maybe. That depends largely on what kid of car my DH is going to buy
))))))
We are having our 2nd boy.. our DS1 will be a couple months shy of 2 when his brother arrives.
From DS1 we have tons of clothes, his infant car seat, bouncer, infant bathtub, DS1's changing pad.. many of his burp cloths and bibs are still in good condition (we had a ton) but I may grab a small pack of each.
We purchased a new crib furniture set, dividers for drawers, closet hangers, mattress, mattress pads, linens, 2nd sound machine, 2nd diaper genie, new infant towels (DS1's were pretty worn), bottles, 2nd monitor camera, swing (ours broke with DS1), car mirror, diapers..
I will also be purchasing a new diaper bag (big enough for 2 and has backpack straps) and I purchased a diaper caddy that will be used for both. Oh, and a double stroller.
