What do you do to try to deter the behavior?
Lately DS has been slapping at our faces and biting our collarbones when he's 'cuddling' We say NO or OUCH and grab his hands when he hits, but apparently, he thinks the words No and Ouch are the most hilarious words ever. Not sure what else to do to try to let him know not to do something.

Agree!
Redirecting is the best means of discipline for any child under 2. You simply change what the child is doing with distraction. Also, say "No hitting" firmly. GL
I say "no" sternly, then "that hurts mama"and remove her hands from my body.
Our little Ev. is a pinching and I swear its her favorite thing to do. she also thing "oww" is the funniest word in the world. and her little pincher fingers really do hurt! She also is extremely interested in poking me in the eye. so I have to really be on guard most of the day :-P
I have to disagree with this. Although sometimes kids do things just to get a reaction, at this age, they're learning what is and isn't allowed. When DS tries to grab my glasses or plays with the lamp cord, if I ignore it, he'll learn that those things are okay.
Now, when DD was a toddler and would yell, "I hate you" or other things, I knew she was trying to get a reaction. Those things I would ignore.
I agree 100%
