36 weeks, 75% effaced, 0 dilation....

This is my first pregnancy so I'm wondering if the wondering bump community can help shed some light on where I'm at.

Just as the subject suggests, I am 36 weeks 2 days, 75% effaced and not dilated. The doctor indicated that it could be any day which surprised me. I guess what I am trying to ask the bump community is if being effaced that much really mean that I could go into labor at any time? I figured if I were effaced that much I would at least be dilated a little bit.

    The last cervix check I had (2 weeks ago at 36 weeks), I was 3.5 cm dilated and 80% effaced.  Still no baby!  So, I guess it really depends on when the baby decides that it is time.  The doctors continue to tell me that it could be tomorrow or in 2 weeks!  :)  So, I wouldn't worry about going really early!  Good luck!

    It could be any day - or it could be 5 weeks from now. It really doesn't mean anything.

    "It could be any day now."  Well yes it could be tomorrow or 4 weeks from now!  Not sure why OB's even say this.

    Could be tonight...could be a month from month from now. Unfortuantely, effacement and dilation don't really mean all that much at the end of pregnancy. I was 4cm dilated and 75% effaced with DD and was induced at 41 weeks.And you can be the opposite...no dilation and go into labor tonight.

     

     

    After 2 years of TTC, our daughter was born on Oct 31, 2011!
